Now that’s the serious hardware I was hoping to see get worked on. Cars are cool and stuff, but how often do you get to see an absolutely beloved part of your childhood rescued from an ignominious death at the hands of neglect.. Godspeed My good man 🥰😍❤️

so I watch a few different car restoration channels as well as a few steel toy restoration channels, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw that you posted this video. Worlds are colliding!

I do it all here on Restore It! Haha. The cars are way more complex and time consuming than things like this, so it's nice to mix it up a bit

I had a friend who was taking one of this exact model apart, and he lined a cardboard box with soft form, then pointed the axle caps towards it while he was prying them off. The foam absorbed the force and they all just fell down so he didn't have to chase them all over the room. I thought that was fairly clever.

As much as i liked the tonka restoration, something is missing in your latest videos, to be honest it was started after you started the Mercedes restoration. I also want to say i kinda wish to see e30 3.25 finished because of the work you spend for that car and it's parts. I understand how difficult car restoration can be even for you but take my words as an admirer of your work, please go back to your old self and bless us with more content. I'm sorry if i couldn't pick the right words to explain myself but i believe you will understand what i mean. Greetings from Türkiye 👋
@RestoreIt
@RestoreIt 2 года назад
Thanks Dükkan, you're right. Yes, Mercedes is taking too much of my time, and it'll be good to have it finished. Now long now. The 325i should be back on the channel in a few months, if that. So everything is due to go back to how it was very soon. I also have a new helper starting tomorrow. The plan is to eventually get two videos out a week every week. Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

A considerably better job than some Tonka restorers on RU-vid. I enjoyed your verbal remarks throughout this episode. You continue to be a remarkable young man. Thanks, One question .. are Tonka Toys as popular in England as they were in the US. A shame that these toys have been much overlooked by kids and their video games. I'm just getting old, I guess ....

Is it possible to powder coat the parts or are they too thin and would warp with the heat? I know you're not equipped for powder coating but it would make it even more durable.

How old does a part need to be before you worry about lead paint?
@RestoreIt
@RestoreIt 2 года назад
Around 1980 or older really. I have several methods of extraction and filtration when I blast for the cabinet, the workshop, and myself.

@@RestoreIt When I sandblast lead paint I always use paint stripper before, because, aside from the risk of breathing it I noticed that after blasting lead paint the blasting media doesn't work like before, it becomes kinda softer and weaker, also I recommend to use some forceps or something to hold small pieces, makes the gloves last longer

Be careful with chrome plating solutions, don't treat it like nickel plating. Chromium compounds are some vicious shit.
