French Coins Counting Machine Restoration - Uncovering the Mystery of a Rare Machine!

In this video, I restored a coin-counting machine made in France.
More about the restoration/transformation process:
I was the lucky winner of this piece on an auction site. I found it very interesting, and it was worth the effort because we don't see something like this every day. The seller told me that the Mint of Poland used this money-counting machine, then he purchased it and used it for personal purposes, most likely to trust casino chips in the 90s.
The restoration/transformation process was uneventful but painstaking. Many pieces were damaged due to water and time, especially the top. The whole project took almost three weeks.
The disassembly alone took over 10 hours. I cleaned the rusted parts with a 2000-watt laser. It was satisfactory, and everything went faster than with the traditional sandblaster. If I didn't have this laser, I would have had to clean the vast parts manually because many of them wouldn't even fit in the blasting cabinet. Then I would have had to clean the chemical hammer paint, which would have taken me many days. If you want to learn more about this machine: www.sfxlyxc.com/?aff=2198
I also wanted to keep a vintage industrial feel, and I succeeded.
I painted the large parts with hammer paint, but with a light green, to match the smaller pieces treated with messing brass, a protective and very durable spray containing 99% brass.
I chose this method because I can't afford it and don't want to have a chrome bath in the workshop. It is highly toxic and requires a lot of approvals to own such a thing.
I hope you enjoy this restoration project. I enjoyed working on it and am thrilled with how it turned out; it was highly satisfying to see how it works and to have the opportunity to own such a rare object!
Please ask me if you have any questions about what I used and why! I answer them all!
Cheers! Johnny.

I know a lot of patience is required to take something like this apart and put it back together however you shouldn’t oil the motor windings/stator with oil only the bearings, if they’re wiper bearings then just the pads that hold oil or if bushings then just bushing area, all the best

I love our analogue world! I collect automatic watches exactly for that reason, but I wish I had the piece of mind, the stamina and the skill set to do what you do! Beautiful!! My restlessness, impatience and inability to figit in confined spaces makes this a no go for me. I would love to service my own watches, but alas..... I can watch someone else do a tremendous job instead! Update: so much for my analogue world! What an amazing piece of machinery, that laser stripper! Damn! Maybe I just love technology ;-) No I really get emotional when I see old analogue stuff. I'm impressed with all the new technology, but man, the world of Turing is pulling my heart strings!

OK... so now I'm confused... I Know... what else is new... LoL... Absolutely love watching restoration videos... I'm 66 and my health and cancer... has stopped me from more then I care to admit... With this said I have restored everything from cars, trucks, guns, tools, boats, and even helicopters... Long before video taping them and RU-vid were around... (just my luck)... I was first introduced to a glass bead machine (Blast Cabinet) almost 40 years ago as a helicopter mechanic... and actually have two today, a small inexpensive Harbor Freight model, and a larger commercial one... I have been seeing the "Laser" Rust removal machines for awhile now, and they are cool on every level... but man are they pricey...The model you have is in excess of $10K... I absolutely agree that they have their place... I have an older Mercury 175 hp Black Max, boat motor that has been bored out to 200hp...reassembled... then left to sit... The motor itself is pretty good shape, but the bolts and nuts have rusted... and at the expense of removing every single nut and bolt and repainting them... using the laser to clean the bolts in place is a great option... Here's my confusion... You used the laser machine for the removal of rust and paint, on the majority of the large items, requiring you to still go over them again with a sander and or a wire brush... So it suggest that the laser does not get it 100% clean. If you have a blast cabinet... why wouldn't you have just gone ahead and blasted the larger parts... I know... there will be some who will say that it leaves the surface coarse, but that depends on the metal you are blasting, and the blast media you are using... I restored an older Smith & Wesson revolver for my son-in-law years ago, it was rusted pretty bad... after disassembling it I blasted it, and yes, it ended up with a coarser finish then I wanted... but a few minutes on a grinder with a wire wheel, then bluing it... and it came out excellent... My confusion lays with not blasting the larger items in the first place rendering them almost 100% clean bare metal with virtually no follow up sanding required... Just an old mans thoughts... Keep up the great work...

I liked the going all the way to cleaning the motor. Only reccomendation is the electrical connections. I would have installed ring terminals or at least wrapped the wires so they tightened as you turned the screw. (clockwise).
