1971 Built Tamiya 1/35 U.S. Tank M551 Sheridan, Kit No. MT131
This model was built back in the 1970’s by my father. It was another nice build from Tamiya and dad followed the model on the box. The kit was motorized and Dad did actually include the motor. ;-) I would love to see if this would actually run!
In typical fashion, he bought multiples of this kit. You can see two versions of the box top in the video, one with Japanese writing and one sold through MRC which was marketed to U.S. buyers. (The Japanese box was the one with the least wear so that’s what we featured.) I love the extra pamphlet with the military modeling tips. I hope you enjoy!

The M551, was a CAST ALUMINUM TANK… Just like the M113… The Sheridan was also used in AIRBORNE OPERATIONS… I was AIR ASSULT in the ARMY We trained loading and unloading M551s and M113s Onto C-130s … No, I’ve never built this kit BUT, it’s safe to say… This is another great TAMIYA KIT… You have my LIKE 👍 👍👍 CHRIS 🇺🇸

'Tamiya' makes GREAT tank models.... no fuss, no muss, and Pretty well detailed. They were my First brand of tanks that I would build and STILL build 1984 - 2024. WOW.... 40 years!!!

Pity that in the 'nam it showed how flawed were either the main weapon and its armour, too vulnerable to mines, plus had a LOT of mechanical problems.The tank had a beautiful futuristic aspect, it's well detailed for such an old kit.

I never got the chance to build this kit, but it has a very futuristic look to it. The actual tank was introduced in 1967, and was armed with a 152 mm combination gun / missile launcher, which could use conventional ammunition as well as the MGM-51 Shillelagh guided anti-tank missile that had been originally intended for the cancelled MBT-70, but saw use with the Sheridan and the M60A2 "Starship" tank. I can't tell from the parts layout, but it would be cool if some MGM-51's were included as accessories. Thanks for sharing this with us. 2nd like.

I bought two of this model Tanks ,one has two motors and a control box, other is one motor model, both bought in 1972 ,both built up and now is still keep more than 52 years.
