It's hard to believe that at one point, many cars on the road were like this. This car was made one year before I was born, so I still remember seeing them on the road through the late 1970s and into the 1980s. They've gone from undesirable dinosaur used cars to cool, desirable retro rides that are like nothing else on the road today. Love the colors and different shades of green! Nice change from beige, gray, white and black that most cars are today.
I have a '72 LTD 4 door in this same color combo - green gold metallic. Mine has 49K actual miles and is in excellent condition. It does have the base 351 2 bbl.
Nice car in great shape. Very similar to my Galaxie though with a few options over the standard Galaxie 500. The brocade seats were an option over the standard vinyl, the A/C was also an option as were the turbine wheel covers. The base engine was a 351 Windsor so the 400 in this one was a nice upgrade. Looks like a great car and fairly rare these days.
@Amplass 333 If you mean factory options, my car came with the optional turbine wheel covers, that's it. I do have dealer-installed A/C, though. My Galaxie has the base 2-barrel 351 Windsor but I've swapped in an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake and a Holly 600cfm 4-barrel carb. I've also installed a MSD billet aluminum HEI distributer with a Blaster 3 coil. Those upgrades gives me a few more hp and better reliability. I've owned my '72 Galaxie for 26 years and intend to keep it until they plant me. These are great cruisers and fairly uncommon, both good reasons to own one.

@@frankdenardo8684 The full-size cars back then were really big and most rode a lot smoother than contemporary smaller cars. Ford claimed their full sizers rode better than a Rolls-Royce. My first car was a '69 Ford Custom and I've preferred the big Fords ever since and is one reason why I've kept mine for 27 years.
I HAD A 72 LTD WITH A 429.. LOVED THE CAR OVERALL BUT IT DRANK GAS LIKE IT WAS FREE. IT ALSO ATE VALVE SEALS A COUPLE TIMES A YEAR. IT WAS AN UNDERPOWERED PIG.
That's interesting. I had a 71 Ford Custom with an N code 429 police package, it was bone stock. It hauled ass. Gave many a Trans AM and Camaro owners a hurt feeling when I out ran them easily. 70 in 1st, 110 in 2nd, over 140 in 3rd. Certified speedo out of the numbers at will.
