Complete with standard exhausts (big thumbs up)

You don't see them in this condition too much either. They are not perfect but plenty good enough for a rider.

Wow! That's what mine looked like back in the 90's. Used the front end off of a 73 to give better stopping, kept the 72 signals though. Wish it looked like that now. I wasn't smart enough to spray things down but do plan on getting it going again. May not be shiny but I know it will run. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one. You do very good work sir!

I've got one exactly the same, a 1972 S2 that someone has put a disc front end on. As my bike is a rider not a show-er I like having a decent front brake, but I know to make it worth big bucks I would have to revert to a drum.

Thanks for commenting. If it were my personal bike to ride, I would opt for the discs for sure. These bikes were never known for stopping very well haha

Thanks so much! I believe it's in either part 4 or 5 of this series that shows how to route the harness. If you have any more specific details please feel free to ask

Yeah! Looks like a really good plan, to take off the parts, leaving them on the concrete floor, while starting to think about coming up with a plan for the restoration. There's only one way or plan, to do this bike - strip it to bare frame and get rid of all the rust. You look like You're not up to do this bike any good. Oh, and prepare for some big expense, getting parts for it! It's an S2! But You'll find out in a few months...

Thanks for the positive criticism! This isn't my 1st rodeo, and everyone does things differently. The bike will be stripped down to bare metal so placing a rotted out tank on the floor is the last of my concerns. I've got all the parts to finish the bike correctly 😁 So Thanks again, but your negative has zero influence here. Hope you have a better day than you have so far

You may not realize this now, but in the future when you are in need of replacement parts, most likely, Pete will have what you're looking for. Let's build a community here not make uneducated assumptions.

Front disc? S2A front end?
@PetesClassicCycle

S3 front end for now. We've got the correct one to be restored

Nice but looks more like 1973 S2 model. It has '73 front end with disc brake instead of drum, '73 chrome fender instead of '72 painted one but have '72 seat and tail. My 1971 H1 had '72 H2 seat, tail and front fender.

You're absolutely right about the front end. I address it in part 2 of this series and everything goes back to original spec
