We continue our walk down memory lane this weekend, with our continued tribute to an iconic ABC television series that defined Friday night's for half a decade... The Brady Bunch.
The series ran for five seasons, from September 26, 1969 to March 8, 1974, amassing a total of 117 episodes. From Tiger to porch chops & applesauce to Marcia, Marcia, Marica, to getting Davy Jones, to Johnny Bravo, this series has become an iconic television series that brings a smile to people's faces. You can't do much better than that over fifty years.
So much has been written about the show over the decades, and we've done our fair share of tributes to the series over the past five years. It was one of our favorite series in childhood, and continues to be one of our favorite television series all-time. It has become a cultural touch-stone, bringing back a more simple time that was nevertheless anchored in one of the most complex and challenging times in history - the late 1960s and first half of the 1970s. A great many things happened during that 1969 to 1974 time span, and yet, The Brady Bunch is that 'calm in the storm' memory of that era.
We pay tribute to the show tonight, along with all the many spin-offs, TV-movies, feature films, stage productions, cartoons, books, and television specials that have come over the past half century, bringing 'all-things-Brady' back into our daily lives.
The three most successful half-hour comedy television series in the long history of television rerun syndication are I Love Lucy, Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch. That is both a tribute to the lasting, timeless staying power of those three series, but also to the talent and charisma of the people in front of and behind the cameras that made those series what they were and still are. Timeless entertainment that brings a smile when people see the shows, or just hear the name 'The Brady Bunch', 'I Love Lucy', 'Gilligan's Island.'
We thank Sherwood Schwartz for being the creator and mastermind behind The Brady Bunch (and Gilligan's Island). and we pay tribute and thanks to him and to the cast and crew of The Brady Bunch. Well done !
Here's the story....

Unfortunately, Robert Reed had passed away by the time (1993) this special was filmed. But the cast had very warm, loving thoughts and memories of Robert. We hope to return to the topic of the Brady Bunch later this summer, and at that time, we'll provide more insights and video clips of the cast's memories of Robert Reed. - staff
