This is a How To video for the doors of the 1973 - 1979 Ford "Dentside" Truck. We install the big window, wing window, and all weather stripping, door and window seals. Parts are from LMC Truck
extremely helpful, thanks for these videos. First one I watched from the seal manufacturer wanted to drill out the rivet on the vent window. makes a whole lot more sense this way. And didn't know about the outer door seal, getting those now.
This helped so much. I’m re painting my 78 f150 and didn’t know how much of a pain the seals were going to be. This reassures me that I can do it. Thank you
Sold my Acura MDX and bought a 1978 F150 for my daily driver. Videos are awesome and perfect for me as I am a beginner and you make the jobs not so scary and fun. Great job and thank you tons!
Timing is everything! I'm just getting ready to install new seals complete like you just did.only on a 1979 f150 460 ci auto. Glad I found your video, your tips would keep me from getting frustrated and now make this go much smoother and faster without breaking anything. As we say in my 43 years of maching at Boeing " There is nothing that can't be overcome with brute force", but patience has its virtues. As the robot in "Short Circuit" said, temper, temper TEMPER! Thanks again "The Wildcard"
Fantastic video! My girlfriend and I needed to get out in the fresh air today and drove my 79 bronco to a lake in the desert near us. When we hit the washboards the windows were rattling so bad we couldn’t hear each other. I ordered the anti-rattle kit as soon as we got home. Luckily I found your video and now I know I can get it done! Thanks again.
Love your style. Good stuff. I did all this a couple of years ago 76 Australian truck. Wish i'd seen this first would have saved me a bunch of time. Subscribed!
thank man! this helped me complete my window reinstall, i spend an hour staring at the door's interior, could not figure it out lol then found your video! cheers
Thank you VERY much for adding the passenger outside door seal to the video. I have been stuck with very loud wind noise on my 76 on the upper parts of the door. Ordering from LMC asap.
Steve thank you so much for this. I have a 73 F100 and I struggle sometimes with the simple things like this. Please keep the truck work on video. I need it lol.
A good no bullshit video that got right down to business and gave all the tips on how to do.Good video i hit the subscribe and rang the bell.I have a 73 f100 and need to work on it.I rebuilt the C6 and a 390 for it .I just have done the doors and stuff on the insides.I am a mechanic not a body man so I need to watch all of your pointers on it.
28 minutes we’ll spent very helpful wish he restored my 73 hi boy .. Steve you are doing what you were born to do I hope your business gets better every year
Thank you for posting this! I have a 1969 Ford truck and I'm a NEWBIE! I have had some struggles, but I appreciate your help. My window is SUPER tight in the new weather stripping and I can't get the top screw in with the wing window...yep...newbie! Anyhow - thank you so much - it helped a ton!
do u know how much this helped me? this helped me get a soggy f350 extended cab with no windows back on the road and drive it as a daily, THANKS YOU!!!!11
Excellent video ! I have a 1981 F100 that I am working on with a 300cu.in engine. It's almost road ready, I just need to replace the door seals, they are crumbling bad, I know now that i can do the job with confidence ! The Vent window and bottom window was my most concern. And I like in your video that you did not have to drill out the rivet for the upper hinge of the vent window. Taking the screws off is way better. While I have the door all apart, I'll replace the speakers as well, I'm sure they are shot. thanks again for a great video.. What is good to remove car paint off glass? last owners tried to paint the truck. and got over spray on the windshield.
Thanks for the video. I'll reference it plenty to replace whatever is making the handle act like a ratchet when rolling the window up. Not sure why it's doing this. The ratcheting is only when the handle is in the lower half circle when rolling it up. My '78 F150 is nearly a daily driver so I don't want to muscle it and risk breaking something before I have a chance to get new parts. Any ideas?
I don't see how you can without removing it. As for the music I had to change it after I monetized my channel as some of it was copyrighted. So I don't know which song you refer to.
I love your RU-vid channel’s I am having to find the windows trim for a 2002 Ford F150 supercrew cab Lariat because just can’t find them in Dade City Florida every time it rains my doors get water inside of them I truly hope you can help me please I WILL TRULY APPRECIATE it if you can just let me know if you can or can’t no matter what I really thank you for that lest reader my massage
Excellent instruction. Man I tried doing this kind of stuff before You-Tube and it was almost impossible. You had to go to a specialist and parts were not available, only from the junk yard or expensive OEM. Plus engines went about 100K then they needed to be rebuilt.
@@codycook1704 i had to drop the vent window- it was pretty easy. 2 screws up top and one below the crank. I just slid it out of the way. to remove you just need to pull it up, then twist it 90º to clear the offset panel mount. I did that for the other side as I got ballsy and wanted to clean and lube it.
I'm assuming the door is still aligned to the body. The door striker (knob in door frame the door grabs onto) can be loosened and moved up, down, in, out. Commonly as the truck ages people will adjust them in as the old seals harden. Also you may want to look into replacing the hinge pins and sleeves if those are loose.
hi there i just got 2 weeks a go a 1978 F 100 custom with 3 on the tree i call the blue mule it the kind of truck i band kind of looking for years .... my truck has 302 in it and i like to ask what kind motor oil i need to get for my old truck can you p;ease tell me what kind of motor oil i need to get i know the oil filter is a F L - 1 A i look on the dip it just read SE OR 144-A
I use 10W-40 or 10W-30. Either will do. I have other videos with this truck so feel free to check them out. Congratulations on your purchase. Remember we are available for all your Ford Truck needs.
Me too. I got mine from LMC and they won’t stay snapped in. I guess I’m going to try to get some adhesive or silicone and spray behind the seals and leave the windows rolled up on it for a few days.
@dbfarm3145 the upper channel felts I used some gorilla clear adhesive.. as for the window felts that snap in with little metal prongs..I bent the prongs out a little more and they push in way better..before they were poping back out
I've never had a need to look for one. But that glass is flat and if you have one in decent enough shape any glass place can cut you one using an old one as a template. Worse case pull your passenger side glass and use that as a template. Be sure to subscribe. Thank you.
Glass isn’t flat at all nor is the track straight just a oversight by this guy I’m sure when you turn wrenches all day everyday you forget as much as you know I know I do
DO NOT BUT THIS KIT FROM LMC. I bought all the rubber for my 73 Ford and it has been a disaster. It’s taken me more than a week and now I have to sent parts back because they are either two big or broke while trying to install.
