My uncle was in the Irish army in the 70s. They used these as troop carriers. His barracks had diesels, and one petrol version. There was always a mad scramble by the drivers to get it, as it was much quicker than the diesels.

There’s something not right here, that sounds like a 4 cylinder diesel, 2.3 petrols were fitted in CF vans, petrol truck engines were 6 cylinders about 5.9 litres.
