#1973LincolnContinentalMarkIV Junkyard Find. Its been a few years since I ran across another 73 Lincoln Mark 4 in the yard but the last one was a night and day difference with this one. This is yet another classic that just sat for years and years, allowing the elements to take their toll on her. Who knows why she was parked but now she's here in the yard soon to be crushed. Maybe someone will save the #fordbigblock460. I was a little tempted but ultimately decided to pass as I dont have much room for another engine and I already have a 1969 429. I would have liked the #poavalve though haha.

Whoa Nelley, Mark IV and almost out the door..... I just got back from a business trip to the Sunshine state, ain't that great? Long and hard hours, but got the job done and I wished I could have gone swimming, but maybe next time. Nothing like the airline to mess up your travel arrangements, but nothing that can't be fixed. TSA Precheck works wonders.....I heard my name. LOL. The Mark IV ran from the 1972 model year through the 1976 model year, and was replaced by the Mark V in 1977 (which ran through the 1979 model year). That one is rough indeed. Yes, that's 1996 as the last inspection, so it's been off the road about as long as Jerry Garcia has been dead (he died in 1995). This is as you said a 460 V8, which means it is rated in net (not gross) horsepower. It was rated at about 212 HP and 342 ft-lb of torque. Many 1971 cars had gross and net horsepower ratings, and 1972 would make it requirement to show only net horsepower. No matter, this era Ford was plagued with sloppy steering, sloppy carburetion, sloppy performance, sloppy quality and overall "malaise" as many have put it. The Wixom plant opened up in 1957 and closed in 2007. It produced over 6 million vehicles during the time it was in operation. We got the VIN, we win: 3 for 1973 model year, Y for Wixom, MI assembly, 89 for Mark IV two door hardtop, A for 460 V8 with four barrel and the rest is the production sequence. We got the tag, we can brag: 65D for Lincoln Mark IV two door hardtop, 3A for Pastel Blue exterior paint, BB for Dark Blue vinyl interior trim, U for C-6 automatic transmission, 2 for 2.75:1 rear end ratio, non-locking, and 22 for Dallas, TX sales district. Whoa Nelley, in rust we do not trust. 1973 and it's over for thee. Life for the Mark will soon turn dark. Off the road in 1996, it hit the bricks. "Grateful Dead", you'd be better off with a moped. 4-6-0 and gotta go. Don't forget the VIN, or we do not win. "Malaise" and bell bottoms and disco were all the rage. Without the tag, we cannot brag and that makes the Google Man sad. Video by Benny and maybe he'll find a dime or a penny (or two, or three, or many). That's it, time to quit. Going to be flat and that's that. Going to get squished and the "French Connection" faithful are going to be pissed.

@@garymckee448 Yes, many did. We really got caught badly in 1973 with the first oil embargo. We did not learn our lesson and history would repeat itself in 1979.

The 1973 Ford 460 was rated at 212 hp, an increase over the 1972 which was pathetically rated at just 198 hp. Surprisingly, the 1974 Ford 460 was rated at 220 hp. It would drop to 208 in 1975 and stay there until 1978, the final year of the 460 in the Mark Series.

Paint code 3A is Pastel Blue and trim code BB is Dark Blue leather. 460 V-8 has 208 Horsepower with 8.0:1 Compression ratio. The opera windows if perfect are expensive and valuable.

Oh Benny! I bet you $100 that the grille & ornament is gonna be gone FAST! It's a good parts car as long as you need the motor and outside aesthetics! Boy there's nothing good savable about the interior! The aftermarket radio looks like a cheap headunit you'd buy at WalMart! I'd get the hubcaps Benny, those are nice and can sell for $80-$100 for the whole set! Personally, my favorite Ford motors are the Inline 6 and the 302. But the 460 has good power. It'll pass anything but the gas station lol!!!

Hey, you forgot to check the glass, lol. I think you might be right about the power output of the 460...with the oil embargo, the HP wars was essentially over, so reducing compression and weaker cams would be the order of the day. I wonder if the tag on the rearend meant this car had a 9".
@googleusergp
@googleusergp 2 года назад
Yes, I believe it was a 9". It was production code WGB-K5 for the 2.75:1 rear axle that year.
