My parents had a 1974 as well with a 318 in it. We sold it in 1979 during the height of the gas crisis and then bought a 1979 Pontiac Phoenix to replace it. We didn’t have that car very long as we bought the 1980 Trans Am in the fall of 1980.
The confusion might be because it came out in the spring of 1979 as a 1980 model. It was an early model introduction I want to say we bought our 1979 Phoenix in the spring of 1979 so both models could’ve been at the dealership at that time. The sales manager that sold us the car just passed away a few years back. His family did a tribute to his life on RU-vid. I did get to speak to him for while when I first reconnected with him about 11 years ago. He remembered our family and remembered the car.
@@googleusergp That may have been the cause of my confusion (model year wise). Amazing that you stayed in touch for so long. I hope I have that relationship with our local dealership. Bought 3 cars from the same salesman (ex-Marine) and on first name basis with the service manager.
