"Strays and waifs of all shapes, sizes and colours simply find their way to her door."
Philip Tibenham reports from an unusual pub in Whitley Chapel, Northumberland. Pub owner Mollie Corby has turned the pub into a sanctuary for stray pets. At present, Molly has seventeen cats, three dogs, several pigeons, and a mouse in the pub. The dogs don't chase the cats, and the cats don't bother the mouse or the pigeons.
How has Molly fostered this spirit of animal fraternity in her pub? Do people think she's a bit of a crank?

Totally agree with her and always have. I have taken rescue Border Collies my whole life and they are the purest souls imaginable. I have always found that people who "don't like" animals forget firstly that we are all animals and secondly they have never taken the time to spend any constructive time with our fellow inhabitants of the planet. Which is essentially what we all are.

The only worthwhile humans are the ones that the average person would think are a little mad and yet these 'mad' people harm no one and are much kinder than the average person.

I googled it and of course, I can't find any information about it. Pity, I wonder what happened to the pub.

Like many pubs old pubs, it's just a private residence now. Whitley Chapel isn't a big place, so you can find it quite easily on Google Maps.

@@MichaelBosley I used to call in to 'the clickim inn' with my brother getting on to 50 years ago ! Always a good pint and a lovely country atmosphere. Just down the bank was the Dipton mill inn' and then down into Hexham.

(2:45) Apparently, she had to let him know that she was the boss. Yeah, I keep telling myself that, too. Everyone else knows the truth, including the dog, it seems.

@@jetpark3743 Well, as she said, she didn't mind. And the regulars at the pub didn't either, by the looks of it.
