1974 Seattle Seafair Unlimited Hydroplane Race Highlights 

"It's Pay n Pak and Budweiser! It's Budweiser and Pay n Pak!" We were all on our feet in our living room cheering for Pay n Pak. Best hydroplane race ever.

I was there! As a kid a friend and I rode our bicycles about 15 miles to get there. That's was back when parents would let their kids go off on their own and have some fun. Fantastic racing between the Bud and the Pride of Pay'n Pak my all time favorite boat.

My brother used to work at Pay n Pak and he got me a lot of memorabilia of the boat. It would become the main reason for me to cheer on the boat as I was a big hydro fan in the 1970s. I loved the Pay n Pak and despised the Bud.

Was at that race. Epic … also I-got to ride in the Pay n Pak last summer in Chelan.bucket list stuff!!!

The Pride of Pay 'N' Pak will always be my favorite hydroplane.

Back when Seattle was really a great place. Today. Oh my god. What happened ?

Remember my dad building model wooden hydros I could tow behind my sting-ray bicycle through mud puddles. This was the mid-60's.

Pay N Pak still my favorite boat of all time.. I got to see her again a couple of years ago at Hydroplane Museum in Kent Washington.. what a beautiful boat

Yeah, U-2 was on fire but you can't see alcohol-based fuel flames in daylight so nobody knew what his problem was when the driver bailed out. It was burning the whole time they were blabbing about hurrying up before it caught on fire. Also, U-95 had the last laugh on these clowns, even though she shot a T joint through the bottom of the hull and sank to the bottom of Green Lake. A few years later they were all turbine powered and the old Allisons and Rolls Royce's were history.

I’ve came across some amazing canisters of old racing film mostly hydroplane races and some auto races from 1959-1961 about 8 reels got it from an old collector in Destin,FL but it also has guntersville Al labeled on a couple reels. In a nice old metalLogan deluxe model carrying case. I haven’t been able to watch but did have a projector and before it went out I saw photos of a miss bergdahl (?) not sure but it was something like that. I’m wanting to sell the collection but not sure who to contact any help much appreciated my grandmother I lived with and took care of just passed away and I’m moving back out west if anyone knows a good contact please reply,thanks

I remember watching '74 seafair race on TV with my dad. I was 4 1/2 years old. Loved the thunderboats.

My neighbor worked for Sunny Jim. The boat gave it a shot.
