This is awesome for a 1974. An automatic transmission too. My kind of bus. I would drive this 1974 International Thomas any day over anything new. Nice and clean too.
If it's possible, I hope you show a longer video of you driving it. I love these old buses and the whine they make. You can actually hear a little bit in first gear in your video. My childhood bus was a Ward on the International chassis. It was an S-1700 with the 345 V8. I noticed the 392s and up sound beefier. They also had the 404s and 446s. I heard they only put the 404s and the rarer 446s in the S-1800 buses. The S-1800s were the loudest buses in my school district's fleet. As weird as it sounds, I remember being envious of some of the other kids who got to ride in the louder S-1800's. IIRC, They were all Blue Birds which is my favorite body style. I think one might have been a Wayne. I only road in 2 Loadstars throughout my childhood. One was a Carpenter and the other was a Superior [the Superior body is another fave of mine]. The Loadstars seemed pretty loud but worn. I believe they were the last years of the Loadstar but they had the other front clip unlike the one in your video.
Nice bus, but I wonder why so many people don't like to show the most important component of a vehicle - its engine and engine components and layout. That tells you so much about the vehicle and its maintenance - almost as much as driving it.
It sounds like it is not firing on all cylinders....either an ignition issue ( bad spark plug or plug wire/distributor cap or a mechanical issue (stuck or burned valve)
The Loadstars were available with two different front clip options starting in the mid 1970's....One was the older style front clip with the rounded fenders and butterfly hood design dating back to the early 1960's, and the second option was the design seen in the video....a tilt hood option with the squared up fender design . Both options were available on the Loadstars through the late 1970's before being replaced with the S series design. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Loadstar
