1974 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 Restoration Project
One of our favorite builds of all time, this FJ43 Classic was commissioned by a diehard Land Cruiser enthusiast who lives between Saudi Arabia and San Diego, California. Although the car’s original color was orange, he requested a white Land Cruiser with a saddle vinyl interior, a color combination we definitely stand behind.
The Land Cruiser was hand-built according to the owner’s specifications, combining elements he admired from different FJ models. The original body was refinished and painted in white with a rounded beige front grille and features early-style side mirrors and turn signals. The white paint of interior creates a striking contrast with the saddle vinyl upholstery and beige soft top. To give it a rugged feel, the car was built on 33" Mud-Terrain BFGoodrich® tires (logos are deliberately facing outwards) using an Old Man Emu suspension with two inches of lift -new or zinc plated bolts throughout were left exposed. The absence of hubcaps is one choice only a diehard would make, and we love it!
In terms of driving comfort and safety features, we built the vehicle using a 4-speed manual transmission, front disc brakes, and LED headlights. Apart from that, the vehicle is mostly stock, including the rebuilt Toyota F engine, staying true to the authenticity and ruggedness of the FJ Land Cruiser.
