In this video we remove the clutch and check it out and talk about key things to look for and address if needed. We then also talk about each part and inspect the cush drive assembly.

Great video again. Good info on these balancing holes, I never realized that! By the way, as far as I know, the big copper ring behind the rear primary sprocket, was omitted in later models because it actually serves no purpose. Keep up the good work! Leo

The dirt inside the cover is from the ball bearing's grease. The clutch facing is radially outboard and is thrown out as the clutch spins. The pressure plate would have been balanced before assembly then the whole balanced by the basket.

Thanks for the great comment, The bearing your referring to is a single row angular contact ball bearing. We bought ours from Amazon it is made by FAG which is a great brand and great quality, the bearing number is 7203-B-2RS-TVP It cost us at the time 52.49 It's an expensive bearing but not availible from vintage Triumph parts sources there are several Trident custom parts vendors that do sell the angular thrust bearing but they were wanting way more money for it.

Hello Jesse, Great video. @1:02:37 you talk about the 19T sprocket being a little bit further out so that the chain will not rub against the rubber seal screws. I did that as well, however, my X-Ring 530 chain I purchased will rub against the back of the clutch housing case when I install it. Do you have a link to the x-chain chain (how long/links) that you purchased? Thank you.

D.I.D 530VX3 Natural Steel 110 Link Xring chain It is the narrowest xring chain we have found and lasts very long I don't remember the exact links needed but we took a few links out of the chain. Oh and we have room on both sides of the chain and it doesn't rub anywhere. We're very happy with the chain on our bike.

Any chance you can break this Triumph playlist into separate Triumph models, I'm finding it impossible to follow the rebuilds?

Wouldn't it be better to check with paper, with the new clutch plate ? Also I'm not sure but it would be nice to have the washer spacer on the underside of the pull rod concentric ? Just in case it is adding bias to your readings , I think my T160 is getting worn in the clutch hub to clutch plate inner spline , as i can feel some backlash developing or it might be the cush rubbers , mine has that clutch mod on the outer quadrant lever and my clutch is quite light and it works . Cheers

1 am sorry but you need to look at this clutch more carefully . I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS X RING MOD THIS IS NOT THE PART THAT GOES THERE what goes ther is a glued on seal bearing boss that accepts the seal in the inner primary cover. Your assumption of how the shock absorber and primary sprocket assemble on the clutch is not right ...... research this area as carefully as possible they are numerous wrong assumptions that folks make that lead to serious damage don't neglect gaining a complete understanding of this whole clutch primary ares.

Some where in 1972 for the 1973 T150V production the part your referring to changed and that Sleeve ring was eliminated so the nose of the spider was extended the same amount as the thickness as that Sleeve ring.

I’m also wondering where I can buy this X ring, currently there is nothing over the end of my clutch spline? To date I’ve not seen any sign of any oil escaping the clutch area? Thank you.

@@karlredding8988 Xring or the quad ring we used was number 211 and it's physical size is 13/16" id x 1-1/16" od x 1/8" thick you can probably get them from a auto parts store, The Triumph Oring that fits and works good also is part number 60-4419
