I used to have a ACE 500 cam Am. Best dirt bike i,ve ever owned. It was the last year for Can Am bikes which was 1987. came with all the best shocks from factory like White Brothers rear shock. I told people if they can kick it over then they can take it for a ride. They were alittle surprised when they saw a left hand kick.
Love the Can Am's. So glad to see one being used. Worked 25 years in the largest Can Am parts seller and maybe dealer. Mcbrann cycle shed. Lots of good memories.
Can Am wasn’t really on my radar until I was asked to ride an “A” bike for the vintage enduro trophy last year. It was a good choice. Very solid engine, and an easy chassis to work with. After seeing some of the Euro brands, they may have a better chassis, but the Can Am is a solid bike. I’ll have a lot more time on the platform before this year’s race in Italy. As much as I want to always ride my modern bike, time on the vintage bikes is necessary if I’m going to be competitive. I’ll be riding this 175 and my 250 to stay comfortable on the platform until the race bike leaves for Italy.
If we were talking about my 1982 250 Qualifier, I’d have to agree with you. The white tank bikes handle very well. Shocked the heck out of a lot of modern bikes at the enduro last weekend.
