OH!...Man! I was just transported back to 11 years old when I got mine! That SOUND brought back the memories. I paid $950 OTD and it replaced my XR-75 that was stolen. First time it came on the pipe I almost crapped myself🤣
@@kingdebary It was an epic decade to be racing. We started off with 3.5" of travel in 1970 and ended up with 11" water-cooled by the end of the decade ! I still prefer the air-cooled though. SIDI's , Heckel boots, JOFA mouth guards, KOHO Finfighter face guards, Torsten Hallam flip-up peaks, a big deal when the BELL MOTO-STAR turned the tide to full face helmets. Carera goggles ( the ones with the gap at the bottom), Beautiful blonds in boob tubes and cut off jeans........great times.
Great video Dino representing one of the OG Classics... I was lucky enough to own the 75 Elsinore 125, bought it new for $800 in 1975 from Open Road Honda, Edison NJ... I was 15 years old and that machine ripped once on the pipe....Represent!! :)
Exact bike for me at 18 years old...loved that bike! Crashed and ruptued the fuel tank resulting in a fire.....so much of that bike is magnesium. Almost nothing left after the fire. Frame, spokes, pipe, and engine internals😢
Beautiful restoration man! I'm with you. I like the sound of the old school 2 strokes better. These new ones with power valves just don't hit the same.
My first race bike, was a real WORK'S factory racer, I bought new in the crate from a Honda dealer in Napa California. A 1976 RC125M, with longer suspension, a aluminum swingarm, and a carburetor that didn't have a idle circuit! I had a MT250 that had the same exact carburetor, but it had a idle circuit. I don't know if this carb was a mistake, or it was done on purpose 🤔 for whatever reason. I was footing the bill's for my racing career. And racing vintage bike's was the only way I could afford to race. I ended up leaving the bike at my riding/school buddy's house, when we moved back to Wyoming unexpectedly, and my mom's boyfriend never picked it up when he brought the rest of our stuff out to us. The only saving grace is that my buddy loved my 125cc so I know it went to a good home!..smh 😪..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
@@kingdebary I bought it in 1986, for $500.00 buck's on the agreement that I had to assemble it, under his supervision, after school. I think he priced it that way because, that was all the money I had!..lol I wish I still had it, or traded the buddy who inherited it for his XR350R that my buddy rode, same guy. I still think that 2yr run of XR350R's is the best town/trail bike built. Until the newer 2004ish and newer bike's...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
@@kingdebary the other reason I think the dealer sold me such a special bike 🏍 was I'd been in buying part's for the mt250 Enduro I'd been riding, that I bought unrunning. And he saw I was willing to work for something, and had a goal. Now that I'm older 50yrs, I've tried to encourage and help kid's who have that same drive. Love your bike's. My 125 Elsie had a high-pipe with a giant expansion chamber on it, and a low-pipe with a slimmer conical shape, and 2 right side covers, depending upon the pipe installed. Have you ever heard about a carburetor on a bike without a idle circuit. I've wondered 🤔 about it for year's?..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
@@kingdebary I had to constantly blip the throttle. Do you know the reasoning behind it? And model Suzi's had it, can you remember? I didn't own many, only one, actually..lol and it's a road bike, I was building for the Bonneville 🧂 salt flats, a 1975 RE5 rotary engine 2stroke with a goal of 200mph by adding a turbocharger and a squirt of nitrous probably..lol
I have a question for you since you seem to know a lot about dirt bikes. I was talking to my Aunt today and she was telling me that her late son he passed away earlier this year. She was going thru his stuff in his garage and she saw a Honda dirt bike over in the corner. I asked her what color it was and she said it was Red and White. I don't remember when or if Honda had a Red and White paint job from the factory. And she did not know if it was a 2 stroke or a four stroke she has never heard it run. Do you know if Honda ever had dirt bikes that color from the factory.? But since she does not know what year it is somebody could have painted it. I'm Really hoping it's an Elsinore that has been repainted. I'm liking it to have an aluminum tank with a green stripe down the tank. Is that wishful thinking yep. But you never know. Thanks for any help you can be.
@@kingdebary Thanks for your fast reply. She said she will e-mail me some pictures of it. How soon is that gonna be .? Who knows but I hope she does not wait to long. When she does I'll post a comment to let you know what I find out. Please ,Please let it be an Elsinore.
