I purchased a 1973 silver shadow the steering has what really call sneeze ability and the brakes are gentle so you don’t make the person in the back fall around I had to learn how to drive it once mastered you will never go back to any other car
Ive also got a 75 LWB, in the uk, mines Caribbean blue, blue everflex, ceam leather & picnic tables, ive owned it 3 years and its my 3rd, ive owned 4, never be without it, best car for peanuts
@@timmo3351 the LWB i paid £8050, at aca auction 3 years ago, the 4th i bought for the picnic tsbles/seats was £4000, i put my blue leather from the LWB in the swb, changed rear doors cards to suit and moved it on for £4000
Silver Shadow II is the much-improved second generation with rack and pinion steering, proper fuel injection, 4 speed General Motors automatic, better HVAC and dozens of other improvements. But the car shown here is smog exempt in California, being pre 1976. So thats a plus, and she is lovely.

I buy the same model 15 years ago,I spent 9500 to make it road worthy,and 20 grands for the vehicule..since then,I decided to Put aside 1000chf every month,(around 1150$) from my 4000 salary at the time.A sacrifice?not at all! End of first year my "saved" monney was 4'500 . At the end of the second year,with no big problems,I have more than 10.000$ in my RR Budget! So it cost me,for 2 years,around 14000$,that is less than 20$ a day,included taxes and insurances... For a nice car like this,it is fantastique! This car stays in Thailand,I included it in the selling price of my house when I have to leave Thailand,and five years ago the new owner sold it for....20.000 $!!! These cars can go for very long time if you take a good care of it.
My mate and I test drove an early one (1967) model around the back streets of Balmain syd. The old owner drove over speed bumps at 60km/hr 37mph and you don't even notice the bumps.
I believe the difference between the Shadow and Wraith was wheel base. Wraith was longer, plus usually as sold fewer Wraiths tended to have more custom features of the first owner than the Shadows. Princess Margaret's Wraith was recently for sale in London, pretty cool car, they dulled/removed all the wood and had wool seats to stop the flash bounce from photographers..

I had a Cracked Radiator hose because Vehicle bought in California and Shipped to NYC...Climate Change And Expanded the hose and then Cracked...New Battery's in both of them..Equisite Vehicles!
Buy a mid 74 onwards flared arch model better handling because wider axles bigger tyres, but still retain the nice dash and chrome bumper up to 76/77 if European spec

Looks like a later model, this is a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 2 from 1977 to 1980, something of an improvement from the the Silver Shadow. Still, a good investment, British engineering, not German engineering.
The car in this video is a Silver Wraith 2, the long wheelbase version of the Silver Shadow 2. They also had the very cool smaller limousine rear window that the 'standard' Silver Shadow 2 didn't have.
It's not a Wraith. It is a Shadow 1 LWB. You can see it at the dashboard. On SII it was different. This one has the massive plastic bumpers because of the US regulation. They had them before 77 for the US market. Possibly from 75.

I had two of these and I had Harvey Bailey suspension kits put in both of them. Handle a whole lot better still kept the ride too. Or less stainless steel exhaust on both. The downfall of these cars is the hydraulic systems and nuisance. It's also highly expensive to keep going so I switched back to Cadillacs eight of those, 76 to 79 the best years for cadillac. Many Rolls-Royce owners Drive Cadillacs of that era. From the power seats the air conditioning and the transmission are used in both cars. But not the hydraulic system. That's why I switched back to The Cadillacs.
