My first car was a black on black, console shift 76 GP. Looked just like this one only mine had a red pinstripe. Mine also had a 400. Is this one for sale?
You’re right. But by simply removing the catalytic converter installing cheap headers and dual exhaust you can pick up 50 HP on a car like this. Still not enough but not bad without breaking a gasket on the engine. Advancing the timing and getting secondary flap on the Q-Jet properly set adds a little more power. The brutal torque of the 455 is still there.
True...not enough initial timing and they were tuned lean. Fix those two things get dual exh with modern cats they wake up. Probably had a 2.xx gear ratio so slow to get to speed good on the hwy. Love those big barges, grew up in the back seat of many
@@gordocarbo I’d just get rid of the cats. I may be wrong but I believe when it comes to catalytic converters, you have to replace it with the exact same type that was installed at the factory. Or it has to have EPA certification for use on that exact combination of engine and car. Don’t think many manufacturers of catalytic converters are going to foot the bill to get EPA certification for a 76 GP with a 455.
