My latest acquisition is a 1976 RR Silver Shadow LWB LRE-23114. I started the restoration the second week of December 2019 and completed what you see here in approx 13 weeks.

I agree that , as you say, this is not a restoration but a remanufacture. How could it be called anything else? I believe there was also mention of selling this example. I would be curious as to the platform you would choose to do so , and what the asking price would be, a ball park figure only of course. Mention is also made of a concern in Illinois and I am guessing it is Park Ward. If that is correct, do you or have you used them to market your work? With respect to the example in this video, I can't imagine where one would dare to drive it in this day and time without fear of mischief or worse. What precautions do you take, or do you advise, when one acquires one of your remanufactures, or a period factory product? Best regards, JM
I love the SY cars (Shadow and Wraith) manufactured from 1966-1980. I also own a rare 1980 Silver WraithII that is one of only 53 cars made for the California market. It is one of the very last cars built and arrived in Beverly Hills in June of 1981. The 1976 was purchased to rescue the car. It was presentable and tagged for the road, but needed a thorough restoration. The car has a very interesting history with ties to Rebekah Harkness and Taylor Swift. Mr. Wraithman I'm in a predicament, I have a 1968 drophead that I have been working on for a very long time. Finding parts that were stolen, to replace them has taken year's. I would like to talk to you if at all possible.
Everything is done in-house except for powdercoating, electroplating and other plating processes. Metal polishing, painting, (the '76 is painted in lacquer and is clearcoated), deep cleaning, media blasting and all welding is done here also. I also own a Juki LU-573 w /servo, and learning to sew is on going.
Beautiful job. End up with a beautiful car. Just saying, the spend on the refurb will be in multiples of the market value of the car. These are very complicated/sophisticated cars and as a result very expensive to repair, and even more expensive to restore. That final drive looked painted.
Any idea what this restoration would cost? I'm researching the cost of a complete restoration for a 1970's Silver Shadow I or II. Restoration meaning new paint (two tone blue/silver), chrome, all interior components and upholstery, electrical, break system, tires, rims, windows, and a completely new or restored engine, etc. Basically showroom condition off the lot. Sadly, there are a lot of RR's that have been really neglected, so they can be bought for a really good price. I may reach out to the RR clubs here in California and see what they say.
You are better off buying a well kept RR Shadow from a RR enthusiast or club member. A restoration of this scope and magnitude at a cost of 80-120/hr will cost more than the car is worth. I can recommend a firm in Illinois that specializes in SY (Shadow based) models. They are well sorted and beautiful. The Shadow is a complex car and very few know their way around them. Make sure you have a tech familiar with this model.
I will most likely sell this one. This example will be completed by the fall. Woodwork is almost done and very close to shooting a sealer coat, then basecoat and finally clearcoat.
@@rossdogg23 In many cases, the cost to "restore" can easily exceed the market value of the car. Everything is done in-house. I specialize in Shadow and Wraith's.

I had a pair of Silver Shadows they ate so much money and then when I put them up for sale I got 10 cents on the dollar they even had Harvey Bailey suspension new leather redone wood grain new weather stripping new windshields and I still only got 10 cents on the Dollar on the open market I sold those to new wallets I'm proud to say Cadillacs give you a lot more miles per dollar so I bought nine of those instead five Mercedes three Chevrolets nothing before how is constantly facing down hydraulic problems replacing all those flexible hoses every 15,000 miles park it in the garage for a couple of months a whole bunch of rain would happen in the calipers would seize up I got tired of it and I was like a Cadillacs this doesn't happen yet it rains all the time in England and then the Silver Spirit even with the mineral oil it's hydraulic system finally failed due to the moisture in the United States. The only downside about driving a Rolls-Royce is you attract so many people who only want money and you don't know who your friends are until you either hide them Park them quit driving them and then you know who likes you and not just chasing your wallet it's amazing cheers
