I grew up on the Island of Jamaica, and these are the songs I learned to sing with. Thank you Kingsmen.

That's really cool. I was so jealous that my sister and brother-in-law attended this concert. I lived in Ohio with my parents at the time and couldn't be there. Because of the Kingsmen, I've been singing quartet music for 30 years. I had this album on 8 track and played it constantly in my car.

The Old Ship of Zion. I will always remember my dad singing this at the top of his voice in the middle of the night and trying to stay awake on a road trip. One of my favorite songs and memories.

I still listen to this great song, The Old Ship Of Zion! I cried many times listening to this heart felt song. The song remains in my heart and brings back memories of over 40 years ago when I first heard it. God bless these wonderful singers. They spread God's word through their music. Many hearts were touched and many gave their lives over to God. Amen.

Any time my parents an my bro an sis would go on a road trip they would play this an I never forgot it, especially the part where they tell about getting the new tenor singer an he said he got to singing an I got to liking it an looked an seen tears Rollin down his cheeks as we sang about Jesus! Tht jus stuck with me because it shows humility an how much the person loves the Lord, I jus can't explain it good enough

The Kinsmen Quartet has been a blessing to my family and me. The talents they use to reach the many with tender mercies that helps melt a hardened heart. I praise God for their ministry and will continue to let them minister to me and others I introduce them to.

You will not hear songs nor be in any southern gospel concerts like this anymore unless the group's of today would go back to basics. I mean have a live band of there own that will travel the long hard roads that the group's back in the days of old. Now you cannot have a live recording without (SOUND TRACKS ). The SOUND TRACKS CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO TAKE THE PLACE OF A LIVE BAND. AMEN AND I MEAN AMEN. That's about all I have to say about that.
@dmichael100
@dmichael100 Год назад
It all comes down to economics. The southern gospel market has been shrinking for years and continues to do so. A group cannot support the 7 or 8 full time members having to sing in some places for a 'love offering" (even top groups). The expectations for the quality of the performance have continually gone up but the money that can be made has not. So groups can record a top notch band, even with strings, once and then take the tracks on the road. Most keep a piano player and sometimes bass because people expect it- but the days of a really high-quality group traveling full-time with a live band in southern gospel are gone. Crabb family probably last one to pull it off and as you see, they have finally split into different solos, groups, etc.

Today, is one week, since my BEST friend and father passed away. I thought I’d go to the river. Maybe do some fishin, maybe play some pool at a friends house, but I can’t seem to leave my house. Somehow I came across this childhood album, and decided to listen. Memories fill my head….. Dad loved the Kingsmen. We had some good times listening to these albums. I’ll see ya when I get there, dad. ❤

Thank you so very much posting these songs for us to appreciate and to enjoy. I remember hearing these songs as a child and seeing the Kingsmen when I was just a teenager. I can honestly say it impacted me in a way to this day is hard for me to explain! They were truly anointed and gifted to sing. Big Jim Hamill was such a character and a warm spirit that may never be replaced. Thank you for posting these! To God be the glory!

I was 13 years old, when I first heard of The Kingsmen Quartet. That was back in the Fall of 1975, and the first Album I ever heard of theirs, was entitled "1686 Lbs. Of Gospel". Do you remember that Album? I remember Hallelujah Square, Praise the Lord, I'm gong home,I get a little touch of Heaven in my soul, , I can hear Mama singing, Who's gonna hold your hand, It's enough to make me shout, He's still living, and more. That was my first exposure to The Kingsmen Quartet, and, 47 years later, I still love hearing their music! God has used groups like this, to keep me blessed and, yeah... entertained, over the years. Love this style of music...and I always will!

I remember hearing this concert on tape back in 1984. All I can say is:WOW!!!!! I first heard of the kingsmen in 1975, when I was 13 years old. The first album I ever heard from them was 1686 lbs. of gospel, which was made in 1974. My favorite song of all time from the Kingsmen was entitled "He's still living". Does anyone else remember that song? Anyway, God bless y'all, & many blessings to all.

Mine too. It touched my heart and soul. It brought me closer to God immediately. I have never forgotten the words. "As I step on board I'll be leaving, all my sorrow and heartaches behind. I'll be safe with Jesus the captain. Sailing out on the Old Ship Of Zion" To this day of my 78 the year of life. I am still waiting on Jesus the captain, to take my place in heaven with him. Hallelujah ❤️

you could download this as an mp3 and then edit it into the different songs or just leave it as one file and burn it to cd or put on a usb to play on a puter or in the car. most newer cars have usb plugs for the stereo.
