Love your channel and I'm really enjoying this build. My mother has an old Scout II (maybe 73-76?) sitting in a garage for the past 40 years that I want to rebuild. Also, is that a Mercury Cougar I see in the shop? My first car was a 69 Cougar w/ 351 Windsor. Damn I wish I still had that car for a frame-off rebuild! Aside from all that, your pacing, swinging, hand gestures, and general chaos with the camera are making me dizzy! Just poking fun... Keep up the great work!

Interesting build series. You do nice work. Some takeaways as a Scout owner myself, some of which you may have already arrived at on your own, with hindsight always being the best teacher. 1. Perform VIN decode and frame serial match early on to ensure that any "limited edition" vehicle actually is what it claims to be prior to assuming incorrectly. Not doing so could end up being an expensive and disappointing mistake in certain circumstances. 2. I suspect both the front and rear axles may have been swapped from the same earlier model year donor to ensure front to rear gear ratio match when in 4x4 mode. That would possibly explain why brake parts ordered for a '77 model year rear SII Dana 44, would suddenly not match up with what's now on the rig. Earlier SII rear D44 axles had different width brake shoes and drums than later year versions. I also wonder if there was any discussion between you and the owner at any point about perhaps sourcing a set of closer to year correct ('75 or newer) axles which would have included a more robust Dana 44 front driving axle with factory disc brakes. For the cost of the DB conversion kit, you might have been at about the same price point. Just a thought. The D30 front will be fine for light trail riding, provided tire size is kept small. 3. The starter motor and associated wiring is going to be HATING life with those headers and no heat shield in place. The owner would be much better off reverting to stock exhaust manifolds, which are still easily sourced for these engines. The IH SV8 engine does not breathe well enough on either end, nor does it rev high enough to realize any performance gain from aftermarket headers. A lot of machine work and money is required to make these engines reach 5000 rpms and sustain it for any length of time. They're basically all in at 4200 rip-ems. So stock manifolds and a starter heat shield would be hugely wise investments for the long term viability of this rig. 4. I'm wondering about the decision to have the Holley 2210 smog carb refreshed rather than upgrading to a new Holley list 0-7448 350 cfm carb. Those original smog carbs were never that great even when they were new. An aftermarket 350 cfm carb would go a long ways towards improving the drivability of this rig, much more so than headers. Aside from that, it's always good to see a Scout being returned to a proper state of glory.

looks great, I got all the rust repair done on mine except for the roof since i have no place to put it yet. I will be getting as close as possible with the body work but definitely taking it to a pro for paint.
