Front brakes,a set of pipes and handle bars, and she's a keeper. Don't go over about 5 pounds in the rear tire and it will ride just fine. Bump the idle up a little to keep it from wiping the piston skirts.
@@AngiesCycles of course, you have to make it "Your own".. I personally think you should keep it, and give yourself a goal of doing at least 5 minor changes and maybe 2 big changes a year for 2-3 yrs to keep the upgrade going. It's definitely a beauty and so is the rider. Keep 2 down, you got good taste!! Can't wait to see what else you do to it!!
I had a 68 xlch in a hardtail frame , jmer springer frt end , spool wheels , motor had a morris magneto , and a coffin tank , i loved it was my first bike , but i would def go thru the motor , these old ironheads get hot , and keep some spare jugs and heads around if u plan to ride it a lot , but ofherwise , yeah i would keep it as a bar hopper . And put a filter and cover on that carb , open throat will def suck some shit in there . Be sure to secure that fuel line that is rubbing the pushrod cover , it will burn thru eventually . Like the octagon oil tank , good luck w it
Nice - really a lot of detail in this video to help me as I build my '76 XLH in a Freddy H rigid frame. I think I'll build it very similarly to this one. Maybe I'll leave off "Choke me Daddy". 🙂
It is a little beast! lol at “choke me daddy” I definitely will be removing that slogan 😂 I am going to test my skills of painting it soon! You get 5 ⭐️’s for your comment!
It Will take some regular wrenching to keep it cruising properly. The fun and peace is way worth it. Mine was always an adventure. You never knew how the day would end. KEEP IT🙈
I took it out to the industrial park and made some laps in the parking lot. It’s a little beast, a different kind of ride than I am used to to and I love it!
I would approach with caution. Pretty ratty bike with lots of signs of just plain old inattention and laziness. Missing upper motor mount bolt, hose clamps used as exhaust pipe clamps on the cylinder heads (the rear was has fallen off and is laying behind the rear brake master cylinder), loose wires (what's that red one hanging off the coil?), poorly routed wires, and on and on. There are "rat bikes" that are really good solid machines, where the important stuff is well maintained and cared for. Then there are "rat bikes" that have been poorly assembled and maintained. This one looks like the latter. Lots and lots of potential, though. If you can buy it right, it's a keeper. Just be ready to have to do some things right away, which is o.k. if known going in, and reflected in the price.
I appreciate the input, if I decide to keep, it would eventually be ran through from front to rear. The upper motor mount bolt has been replaced earlier, but stick around and let’s see what she ends up looking like😁
Na don't keep it .donate it to the what the f is wrong with you foundation, LOL.of coarse you keep it ,it's one of those things that make you say later when your older ( What the hell did I get rid of that for.LOL. Take it or it. Drive at least one thing until the wheels fall off .That is for every one, unless your starving. Some things just need RIDDEN. forever.
Love it! There is a few things I want to do with it though if I keep it, kick start maybe? Also I would add front brake! It’s a little beast! Your comment gets 5 ⭐️’s!
@@AngiesCycles front brake is at least 89 %of your stopping power .The kicker is great but with electronic ignition not so much. But it's good when your battery is low. Also pipes can be all wrong ,sux when you have bitchen pipes that just don't let it happen.
@@AngiesCycles you my dear are very welcome thanx for hitting me back It's really nice to know some people still appreciate things. I've had people ask me stuff. And I give him the correct answer. And they don't believe it, they go ask somebody else. And somebody else gives them the correct answer and then they go with it. I appreciate you hit me back on that .
@@BenjaminHiggins-o6g knowledge is power, they say! I am a lot of personality and I like knowing how to, what to, and about that, on most everything. I was that kid under my daddy’s feet in the shop and now it’s that way in our own.
