This was my first car ever. Bought it in 1988 on my own, a Senior in high school, 4 days after my eighteenth birthday. Beautiful car, even at 11 years old. No rust, original miles and interior with no rips, diamond tucked, all electric and all original inside and out with the blue rims. Owned it 3 years before blowing the motor. I loved that car.

Mine, too! Paid 2K for it, in 1984. It had white leather bucket seats, too! Gosh I loved that car!

I had a '77 Cutlass Supreme my junior and senior year in high school ('83 and '84), I was a cool mofo. I loved that car, too. They still look good today, IMO. My mom and dad had a new '72 Cutlass Supreme when I was 7 years old, with the Rocket V8. Too bad Oldsmobile went belly up.

You used to see these cars everywhere. My dad was devoted to Buick, but I fell in love with these cars after riding in one owned by the parents of a friend of mine. I don't think I've ever ridden in a car with a smoother ride than this one. They are hard to find now.

I have one like this one but in goldish color im not sure about the exact color with tan interior, I'm the second owner of the car we picked it out of a garage locally in 2001 it was sitting since 1992 it still had the dealership badge on it and yeah you're right it's a smooth ride I think it's smoother than a Lincoln, I always thought it need it new shocks and when a changed the original 40 year old ones about 2+years ago it felt the same, then I thought it could be the coil springs, but now that you mention that then I'm sure that is normal,, the motor is junk Buicks motors are known for oil pump failer 👎 it originally came with a 3.8l Buick V6 motor in it but it got toasted now I'm swapping in a Olds 403 6.6l I found down in Mexico and took off a 87' Chevy pick up truck that had it swapped in to it, it didn't belong there it's a car motor I don't know why they sacrificed another Oldsmobile just to fire up an old raggedy ass piece of sorryass rusted metal with a Chevy badge on it, now I sacrificed that old junk to make another Oldsmobile live, I took the motor out for mi car lol original 1977 Olds 403 motor hell yeah 👍😛

My mother bought one of these brand new, same color as the one you see here. She told me that back then she drove it off the lot for $3700.. brand new. I still remember the car as a little kid. It was a nice car.

Just like my car, same color the only difference was my cutlass is a brougham electric windows. These cars are getting very rare. I live the rally's wheels. They sure don't make em like they use to..NICE!!

Had a 77 in the same color combination except I had the Brougham which had the loose pillow velour interior. My Aunt bought it new I bought in 1984 with only 27k miles on it. . Drove it for @2 years and sold it to my friend. He ran it to about 185k miles on it. He still has part of dashboard. Loved that car!!

Back in 77 I ordered my Cutlass Salon. Same outside color scheme but the interior had the two-tone light dark blue cloth interior with the center console. I had aftermarket T-tops installed. I loved that car and wish I could find one now.

This was my first car. I couldn't even believe how insanely slow it was and how poorly it drove. Many times I thought I was going to die trying to merge on to the highway. Young me had no idea that V8 didn't mean doing donuts and listening to ACDC if it was a 70s car lol.

Maybe General Motors should have figured out how to drain the water out of the rear bumper they wouldn't have that problem
@marybonin3173
@marybonin3173 Год назад
@@stevejohnson1397 they actually had a drainage plug in the fenderwell, but, that sucker either clogged up or locked in closed mode... I had a problem with passenger rear fenderwell building up water. Ironically, the next car I got after the Olds (a Nissan Sentra hatchback) had a major issue with leaking fenderwells... Fried the taillight/back brake lights/parking lights module.... Took me a bit to find the module, but, that sucker was submerged and diodes fell off the circuit board when I got it apart and drained the module circuit board unit...

I miss my Olds... Had one that looked identical to this one. Nickel & dimed me to death and was a trip trying to replace plugs & wires on it... Previous owner had the distributor and harmonic balance 180° out... And timing was calibrated like that too... 🤔 Essentially flipping the firing order of the 350 V8 to direct opposites... Instead of being 2,4,6,8 & 1,3,5,7 it was 1,3,5,7 & 2,4,6,8. I know, I know.... It didn't make sense that it actually ran that way to me either! Lol

...I had a car just like this in 1984-85 when I was 19-20 years old...same color and everything, except I had white letter tires instead of the whitewalls..you know, whitewalls were not "cool" back then, they were "granny" tires...traded my '57 Chevy Bel Air 2 Dr Hardtop for it.(yes I know..STUPID)..the '57 needed paint, mechanical restoration, it was my daily driver, but was getting "clapped out" mechanically, and I couldn't afford to restore it, and I needed a more reliable driver..BUT..the '57 was VERY restorable, especially by today's standards..I should have just parked it in my dad's shed and just bought the Cutlass...The Cutlass was a VERY beautiful car, I liked the way it looked and drove..BUT..I found it very awkward and big, and hard to see out of, after being used to the '57..the front of the Cutlass was VERY long, you had to watch when swinging in and out of parking spaces..I can't believe they considered it an "intermediate"..it was a land yaht!..anyway, I would up trading the Cutlass in on a new 1986 Ford Ranger 4x4 pickup...

i bought one of these new. looked great, but the back seat was useless (3 inches of leg room!!!!!) and it made bizarre noises that no mechanic could diagnose. the engine was no good either. i finally gave it away for free, with only 10k miles on it
