I was at this game ! 🌈. The day before I was in my cousins wedding and went to the game with the father of the bride ⭐️ my wonderful late Godfather, I was 15 on this day 💖. Absolutely wonderful time to have been young growing up in the beautiful Bay Area 😘

OMG... this is the most amazing thing ive ever seen. I was 13. I dont remember how this ended... Im watching it and rooting for My Houston Oilers (EastSide Houston Cholo- Wayside Dr.) and I know every player on the field. I know the assistant coaches. I hear Curt Gowdy and Merlin Olsen. Bum, Madden, Pastorini, Snake, Billy White Shoes, EARL! I can die now. Thank you for uploading this... and next time, leave the 70s commercials in. : ) -- This is more entertaining than any NFL game on air now, including the Super Bowl.

If, on the day this game was played, you had picked ten Oakland fans and ten Houston fans at random, and told them that -- two years later -- Dan Pastorini would playing for the Raiders, and that Ken Stabler, Dave Casper, Jack Tatum would all be playing for the OIlers, they all would have laughed and looked at you like you were crazy. Yet that's exactly what happened.

A new pick up that year, and in the background #16 Jim Plunkett. The best was yet to come for him.

@kendallevans4079

To me, Snake ( and later Marcus Allen) never looked right in a uniform other than the silver & black. Seeing Kenny in a Saints uniform before retirement was degrading!

1:07:11 - Defensive end, Dave Browning, literally *single-handedly* saved the day for Oakland on that play. That's why I've always thought forced-fumbles should be an individual statistic just as interceptions and quarterback sacks are.

I grew up in the Bay Area in the 1970s and the Raiders were the king of football in the bay at that time. The 49ers pretty much sucked from 1972 till 1981. Then everything changed, the 49ers became a dominant team and the Raiders moved to LA in 1982. I think the Bay Area was the 49ers from then on even after the Raiders moved back in 1997 the 49ers were the talk of the town.

Funny when Madden left, Banasek, Brown and Belitnikof followed. They were loyal and they didn’t want to play for another regime.
@urbangorilla33
@urbangorilla33 2 года назад
They were 34, 38, 35 years old respectively, and Willie and Fred had lost their starting jobs in 1978 under Madden, so it's seems much more likely they simply decided to retire. The new coach, Tom Flores was already on the staff, so I doubt they would see it as a new regime.

Ken Stabler was traded to the Houston Oilers for Dan Pastorini in 1980.

Yep….and then Pastorini broke his leg in San Diego, opening the door for Plunkett who then beat Stabler and Houston in the wild card game
@furnitureconsortium
@furnitureconsortium 2 года назад
Pastorini would leave football entirely shortly after his Raiders run and become a well-known NHRA funny car drag racer! That was my first exposure to Pastorini as a kid in the early 80’s was through his drag racing. Had no clue he was an NFL quarterback until many years later

After Houston QB throws an interception & the Oakland defender gets tackled after making the interception (towards the end of the game, from at 1:53:15 to 1:53:25), The Oakland interceptor gives the ball to the Oiler player & that Oiler player got pissed & threw the ball back at that Raider player, that just makes me laugh!!
