With gas prices on the rise again, 4, 5 6 and some are saying 7 dollars a gallon, the car and truck munufactures would be smart to reach backwards in time and start building these little 4 cylinder cars and regular cab trucks once again. We need them.
I bought a 1978 Datson 610 for $300. about 20 to 25 years ago. I'm in WI. it was from Washinton state no deep rust. I had never drove a compact truck before. It didn't have that solid feel to it. Just seemed like there should be more to it, to, make it feel solid. But mine was only cheap fill in vehicle while I find one as my car died and I junked it> I gave a kid a ride home from band practice, & his comment's were Is this safe to drive , I think you better get something else quick. I still have it waiting a fix up and paint and body work, as I read, there rare now . It's not getting any better as it sit's outside. I read up tell the 1978 from earlier models . The changes made in 1977, like I guess from reading & I looked at mine not positve but/ 1. lighted, light switch. 2/ ball joints instead of king pins. 3/ front disk brakes. 4/ 2nd yr for extended cab 5/grill change. 6/ front bumper change. 7/ electronic ignition
I had a Datsun truck in 1980...brand new Sport package, 4 cyl, fog light rack, great sporty paint job black and silver...4 speed. I couldn't kill the thing. Drove into the Gulf of Mexico in 4 feet of water and still made it back to the beach...wonderful little truck. It rusted to hell a year after that and it STILL ran...sold it to a bunch of mexican guys, seven of them standing on the road near Houston, when their Chevy truck broke down at a gas station. Sold it for $700 cash. Signed over the title right there, and they drove away in it and left that POS Chevy. Some dude was looking at it last I saw...I guess someone took the thing it had Mexican license plates on it...i didn't care...all the tires were flat.
@@kascnef No, sorry. The name Datsun sold better in the United States better than if it were Nissan. The Datsun truck was ALWAYS a Nissan. In 1980, the names began to change as you saw the 1980 720 series trucks say Datsun by Nissan, and Nissan by Datsun. Once the name Nissan was fully accepted by the American public, then the name Datsun totally vanished from the vocabulary completely.
Sorry, what I have uploaded is it. I get my commercial from film collectors, I tend not to take them from broadcast sports videos like the CFL games as the quality isn't very good, grainy and no details from the broadcast effect and multiple re-recordings. I do have two from the 70's but in French ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lsfIlCJqzRQ.html
