I am only 14 years old, but i understand your videos, because you describe it all very good! You help me a lot with my own projects..for example the E50 rebuild, for my Maxi N! Keep it up man! Ps. Sorry for my not so good english, but i am from Switzerland.. ^^ and as i said i am only 14 years old.
14? you shouldnt ride a bike.. just kidding! im 15 and ride my dad's honda 600 (with the right equipment of curse) dont listen to people saying that you are too young.. just follow your heart
Jea man.. if I had a bike I would.. but jeah, now I'm 15 and in a year i can ride a 50cc bike, and in 3 years I can ride a bike wirh max. 35KW.. hopefully I can get myself a nice bike to ride with! :)
LowStyle same for me in greece at the age of 16 you can ride a 50 and at 18 a 37hp max i thing. i usually ride a zundapp ks 50 watercooled but sometimes i ride the 600. if you want something faster than the puch try to find a ks 50 in good shape or rebuild one. its expensive but its worth every cent
Still have spares on those case bolts? :) Hoping for part 5 on this hobbit series.. Looks like it's gonna be a fast bike all said and done! And with your meticulous assembly I bet it'll be a damn fine hobbit build. Now get back in your garage and show us what a n1bpd hobbit looks like!
I love these. It gave me the confidence to start my own PA50 project. What did you use to grease the bearings? And I'm waiting on a service manual to come in. The only thing I would change is to put up torque specks and what you used, while you were doing it. How about a video on the brake system? Still got any of the cap head screws laying around you want to throw at me?
Hi, your work is great by the way. I was wondering about the last bit you showed here. I have been having an issue getting my Honda hobbit to start with a new cylinder and piston. The place I got the cylinder from online mentioned that its best to use 2 extra base gaskets for proper timing. When I used just one the piston bent the end of the plug. When I use 3 total as recommended it does not bend the plug as far as I can tell but could it still be too close or too far away to fire properly?
Is there no spark at all? I'd replace the spark plug, gap it with a gap tool you can buy at the counter of most automotive stores. Give it a couple of kicks, if it doesn't start remove plug and check with the tool to see if the piston has decreased the gap on the plug.
what crank did you used, is it better, lighter as the original one? and why didn't you sprayed the 2nd bearring with freezing aerosol pefore putting the 2nd shell?
Great, you make some very interesting and well edited videos! I think you need to keep an eye on that bronze bushing you made. A needle bearing needs a hardened and polished steel surface to run on. I think the brass/bronze is too soft and will wear quickly! Keep the videos coming :-)
Your right on having to keep an eye on the bronze bushing. I was reading a thread about it and it seems the needle bearing is not available anymore so the consensus (2 vs 1) was that it would be better to make the bushing sacrificial. The needle bearing is only rolling across the bushing at idle, as soon as the clutch engages they are moving together. www.mopedarmy.com/forums/read.php?1,3748237,3749386
n1bpd Just an idea, maybe you could turn the bronze bushing further down, so it acts like an adaptor for the original steel bushing, just to take up the difference in diameters?
You should have taken away the larger cylinder restrictor in left half side of the crankcase. Just in case , if you ever wanted to fit a larger capacity cilinder .
Brian Staresina It's coming. I have most of it, winter put it on hold as my workshop gets a bit cold. Part 5 and Part 6 (TJT Variator) should be out in pretty quick succession towards the end of April.
I have the majority of the carb installation video filmed, but had to put it on hold before I was finished while I was overseas. I have some other commitments before I start work on this. I hope to get back to it soon (I'd like nothing more than to have the time to be in my shop).
