In this project update video, I am continuing to make progress on the 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 Basket Case project. The rear brake lines are complete, rear master cylinder rebuilt, front master cylinder rebuilt, new seat added, gauges added, polishing the motor has started, etc. Let's look at the progress made so far!

your coming along quite well.i know how it is.the only way to get the results you want is to spend the time to get them.turns into many hours behind the scenes.& often unnoticed on a finished bike.

Very true. I'm happy with the progress so far but there have been quite a few things that didn't turn out like I thought and needed revisiting. But it is a great learning experience and I am getting quite the education on the old KZs. It should come in handy on the next KZ1000 project I have currently in the garage.

Good work Jon, coming along well. The chrome on the front indicators will polish up well with metal polish. Just don't go too hard as the ones on the KZ are chrome plating over plastic. Not sure about the base construction of yours

@@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 If you are going to be a puritan about your Z1000, the points cover, the button cap is off a KZ1000/KZ1100. Your model came out with the DOHC cast into the casing. Otherwise, the button covers polish up nicely (as you are on the way to) and it's only those of us who know their Z's that the button one isn't truly from this model
