1978 NCAA Football Oklahoma at Nebraska
11/11/1978
This one was a real heart breaker for Sooner fans. Ranked No 1 and really the better team and Sims fumbles inside the 5 late in the game. He was just trying to fight for extra yards like he should, but sometimes stuff just happens.

@@lloydkline3265 I miss the days of triple option offenses, as well. To me, it doesn't matter whether the base formation is the wishbone, the flex, the power I, or the veer. There's something poetic about the creation of that mesh between qb and fullback, and the magic of isolating the perimeter defender as the qb and trailing back attack the edge.... It's a great system for youth players to learn fundamentals on both sides of the ball.

Its just too hard to beat a team twice in the same season, so unfair to the team that won the first game, they always think they can win playing the same way they won the first game, the team that lost the first game has a revenge factor, and changes the game plan to plays they didnt see the first game

And who better to call this game than the great Keith Jackson. A week later the Cornhuskers would be stunned by Missouri and the Sooners got their revenge against Nebraska in the Orange Bowl on Jan 1st. Lee, you must be thinking of a different season. The only loss Oklahoma had that year was this one. They were allowed to avenge this loss in the Orange Bowl. A very controversial decision by the Orange Bowl committee to invite the loser of this game.

Can someone give me #48 for Nebraska's name and current address? I'd like to send him a bouquet for knocking that ball out of Billy Sim's arms at end of game. Helped Alabama get a chance to play #1 Penn State in New Orleans, which with a 14-7 win gave us Natty #10. Had OU won we'd have been playing a consolation bowl game.
