You got a cool van! Ken and I Jen have a 1980 VW westfalia pop up camper van we are restoring! We cant wait to take it with us camping @ the Drive in! Right now its like a cream color on the pop up and body is a burnt orange terracotta color~ Ken wants to paint it like the color of the foam on root beer soda, cause our seats are a milk chocolate brown! Safe fun magical journeys with love and peace ya all! Jen and Ken! 🧡☮️
Great video and I love your bus. Really got a good chuckle out of “You’ll get a lot of peace signs and you might get some other fingers.” I’m working on finding my dream bus to buy. Those that might give you other fingers are the people that have no patience and are in a rush to go nowhere fast. That’s why the VW bus has always been my dream vehicle, I’m an easy going lad that enjoys every sec of life, because it’s so precious but short. Driving a bus isn’t about how fast you can get to a destination it’s about the slow journey there, the sights you may see the adventures you’ll have, the people you may meet along the way and the story in life you have to tell and to know you lived it. Peace and love to all. ☮️
Great vid. I really enjoy watching your adventures with this Bus. A few things to add; No. 1,Oil is critical in these and should be added at 1/2 qt, waiting til its down a full qt is too long. (2) Warm it up 2-3 min at least when cold. (3) use 91 octane gas. When these cars were built VW specified 91 Reg gas...today reg is 87 octane ..too low. I have owned my 79 Bus for 39 years and currently drive it daily. At 270,000 mi it's still as reliable as day one. Long live the Bays!.......One last thing, don't lug the engine, good way to ruin them. Around town driving should be in 3rd gear. Driving under 35mph in 4th gear is Verboten!
One of my VW buddies who builds air-cooled engines always asks me "How many smiles per mile are you gettin'?" He's not wrong. I can't drive angry in my '78 Bus.
Well you gave me an idea to make same video review in my Albanian vw club. Would be weird since I am driving the only vw bus T2 in my State . As about the emergency lamp…. Do you have any switch under the dash that is being activated when you pull the hand brake?
I would install a msd shift light on dash that will come on at the rpm you want. Tell people if that light illuminates your rpm is too high. So somebody doesn’t over rev it on a hill climb and blow the engine.
