I live in Windsor, right across the river from Detroit and this broadcast was on WKBD 50, which we were able to watch when I was a kid. The play by play man is Bruce Martyn and I can tell you from personal experience that he was a true blue homer lol. He rarely raised his voice when the opposition scored and this was about as excited as I ever heard him for a non Red Wings goal.
Too funny, I live in Windsor as well and vividly remember watching those games on ch.50 too. Martyn would never show any excitement when the opponent scored, ever. I never was crazy for Sid Abel as well. I thought he was terrible.
The Red Wings have always had the most biased and embarrassingly "homer" announcers. I can't even listen to them they're so bad, even here on YT with small snippet videos. I totally get that you want your team to win and all, but these guys and subsequent ones were ridiculous. There is something called professionalism in the industry. These guys aren't a part of that.
I loved #10. Wore his number through all my amateur and beer league days in Alberta hockey. Saw him in Lethbridge at a Legends game many years ago and he put on a couple end to end rushes with that long hair flowing. Even after retired he was something to watch. Those were the days when he played.
@bmoshareholderappleshareho855 It wasn't as bad as you may think. There were relatively few head injuries back in the day. I totally support the idea of helmets, don't get me wrong but there weren't that many head injuries in the pro's in those days.
