0:43 Eh?! WTF was up with the WI batting order? Laurence Rowe at 8, Clive Lloyd at 9? I mean if you think Rowe wouldn't be a fast enough scorer then you shouldn't play him at all.... weird.
I am arecent subsriber of your channel. Requesting you for uploading world series cricket dec 18 1978 between aus v world 11.and world series cricket 1985 group match jan 1985 between aus v srilanka in which rodney hogg claimed 4 wkts v srilanka among them 3 clean bowled. Thank you
I never saw any of these matches. We only had 2 channels where I lived and the commercial station didn't show any of these games, so I had to listen on radio. I remember that England refused to play in anything but plain white. They also refused to play with any field restrictions which meant that they had all their fielders on the boundary at the end of some innings, even the wicketkeeper.
You’re right about the whites, however, woefully wrong with the field restrictions because in 1979 there were none. Field restrictions in one day limited overs cricket came in during the 1980s. Before criticising England learn your facts.
@@vantheman1238 I know there were no field restrictions in 1979. That's because the England board rejected them! But field restrictions were introduced the very next season and it was largely because of the incident I mentioned. On Nov 28, 1979, West Indies needed 3 runs off the last ball to win and England captain Mike Brearley put every single fielder on the boundary including the wicketkeeper.
Roberts was the first bowler I saw who had the wicket keeper jumping to collect. ...in Montserrat 1978 Montserrat against Antigua. ..I was about the age of ten, and he had an impact on me then...
Andy was a powerhouse. Being a little Aussie kid, sure I barracked for Australia, but you always look up to the individuals like Garner, Croft, Richards, Mushtaq, Imran, Shastri, Gavaskar, Underwood, Snow, Lillee, Marsh, Hadlee, Cairns, Howarth etc.
West Indies 246/5 (50 overs) v England 139 (42.5 overs) Sir Vivian Richards 88 (95) Ian Botham 2/35 (10 overs) Wayne Larkins 24 (58) Sir Andy Roberts 5/22 (10 overs
I remember seeing the great Australian fast bowler Ray Lindwall in action against Gloucestershire in Bristol back in the 50s. His run-up seemed to begin somewhere near the boundary in my boyhood memory!
Perfect ... u have any rare Kerry packer or rare 1979 West Indies footage. ? Any footage from 1979 Kerry packer played in WEST INDIES ... second season ?
Absolutely 💯 best English batsman. Deceptively Fearless with his unassuming demeanor. Respected throughout tha cricket wurld, because of his stoic mentality. Carried the genuine belief of the English lion spirit. Love him ta pieces♥️🇬🇧
kamran khan now why would you think that I, who lived in Australia and who went to many games not involving Australia around this time and remembers very well the size of the crowds ( i worked at the SCG in summer) , would be lying?
Speak for yourself chum. This was an age when craft and guile combined with patience still drew a big crowd. This remains compulsive viewing in so many ways, not least for its evocation of days when cricket had only recently started adopting protective wear beyond cap, pads, and the ubiquitous groin protection. Ah...I remember them well.
