Sean. Maybe you can diagnose the logic probe in another video ?

I was surprised to hear that 24V is being fed to the input of the 7805. That is a lot of voltage it has to drop and with no heat sink on it. The vector section doesn't have a lot of parts so there isn't a lot of current draw and that will help the part from being overly stressed.

I agree, that is a lot of voltage to to drop in the7805. probably be better to just jump a wire from the logic +5v over to the output pin of the 7805 would be, and remove it alltogether.

Don't those voltage regulators get hot without them being bolted to the PCB copper? Those plastic clips don't look like they keep the regulators held down.

They get slightly warm.. they are not meant to be fastened down, just held in place

You'll find that classic arcade PCBs were all pretty hinky in regards to electrical engineering. Nobody expected them to be used for more than a few years so they made them as cheap as possible.

For what reason did you bypass rectification?

This video was made 4 years ago. at that time I did not have the bench setup that I do know. I did not have AC to run at that time, so I just bypassed the diodes.

@@classicarcaderepairs4818 That makes sense. I was blindly searching for a technical reason and missed this.
