They actually looked like the 80s third gen Camaros! Even though the Monza was in the 70s. I had a 76. Wish I still had it!!!

The 3 gen Camaro was designed after the monza. True story

Been a looong time since I've seen one of those. There are tons of Vegas, Skyhawks, and ... err... Starfire? around here but no Monzas. Love the back on them.

Sweet ride!! Never knew that Chevy Monzas could be had with a v8 engine stock, until a little old gray haired lady who worked in my office mentioned her '77 Spyder. Didn't believe her, until I saw her car after work that day. Her silver Spyder was lighter and faster than my new slug 305 2 bbl '77 Camaro LT. GM had also begun putting their Chevy 350s in Cutlass Supremes by late spring of '77, b/c high demand caused Oldsmobile to run out of their Rocket 350 v8s. So the only way to get a 350 engine for a new Camaro, was to reorder a '771/2 z28 model. I almost told the dealer who I had ordered my Camaro with a 350, to shove the car up his ass, since he never told me about the engine switch via letter, or called me until the Camaro arrived, and I came in to take delivery.

I owned a 77 Chevy Monza Spider in silver with a red interior. The car came stock with a 305 V8. My buddy had a Camaro Berlinetta with a 305 V8 as well. And we raced on a freeway out in the sticks where there were no other cars one afternoon and I gradually pulled away. Did it repeatedly. Your absolutely right!

I had an 80.It had the 3.8 or maybe 4.3.Long time ago but I'm almost sure it was 3.8 .Someone on here will know.It was a hell of a lot faster than my old str. 6 mustang ever was lol.I had big dreams for both cars but plane tickets in 1990 weren't cheap.Damn damn.

Yes, your memory serves you right. It was a 3.8 litre Buick V6. Last year for the V8s in Monzas was 1979. I had a '75 Monza with the Chevy 4.3 litre V8 / 262 cu in - smallest of the Chev small blocks, only made them for 1 or 2 years.

Very nice.. I'm building one right now with a 383 can I ask you what headers you are using you're awfully a tight fit the ones that previously came on the car but they're small
@mongoose406
@mongoose406 5 лет назад
Sanderson shorty headers fit very well and are priced reasonable, But I believe Hooker super comp headers produce a little more torque/hp from what I have read.
@MasterChief-sl9ro
@MasterChief-sl9ro 5 лет назад
@@mongoose406 Only headers that don't cook the starter is the Hooker. So be sure to wrap them and put that heat shield around the starter. As changing that starter was and #1 plug was bad enough. I should have kept mine. It was mean with the 350 V8 in it...
@imakittycat1302
@imakittycat1302 4 года назад
@@MasterChief-sl9ro I'm using the shorty headers and a mini high torque starter. Together they allow good clearance. I have no shield or header wraps. Been running 3 years now.

Actually they look like a +$200,000 Ferrari GTC - 4 --- that Chevrolet contracted Pininfarina to design and copy as a low priced economy car just like Nissan did with the 240Z. That's history, look up the concept car: Monza Stiletto. As for 1/4 mile drag cars, Monza's ran in the 7s over 40 years ago, who knows how fast they run today? As for Aerodynamic potential--- last time I was at the Bonneville Salt Flats, there was a totally stock bodied Monza running +230 mph. But the real monster was built by DeKon--- The IMSA Monza's today are still among the fastest cars in road racing: hence the name MONZA.

I bought a new Monza Spyder in 1980 when gas prices went from .35 to a dollar. My steering wheel was mounted off-center and couldn't bt fixed. It was the biggest POS I ever owned. Never will I buy another chevy.
