I purchased this vise from a mechanic that abused and neglected it. It came to me in very rough shape and missing parts.
Please comment what you think of the restoration. Enjoy!
Thanks for watching, please subscribe so I can continue with these restorations.
Thanks

I've watched dozens of resto videos, and still amazes me how quickly the metal reacts to the cold bluing liquid.

Looks really good sir! You’re supposed to heat the cast iron up before welding it. Maybe next time.

Thanks! Unfortunately I don't have an exact formula but I started with 12oz of Rustoleum hammered Deep Green. I then added the following Mica Powder Pigments: Silver Pearl - 3.5 grams +/- Golden Indigo - 1.5 gram Ghost Blue Pearl - 1.5 gram. I'm guessing at these measurements but this should be close. It was so much fun mixing this together!

This came out beautiful! Why did you choose brush on paint vs spray can? I’m getting ideas for my own restore. Thanks.

Spray probably would have been better but I didn't have a spray gun at the time and I wasn't able to find the color I wanted in a rattle can. Thanks for watching!

I bet the cast iron on that Wilton Vice wasn’t done in this country. Which is why they use a stick on placard instead of how they used to make them with the name being part of the casting. They cheaped out on their manufacturing. I watched a video of their manufacturing process and they get containers of cast iron blanks shipped to them. They do the machining and assembly in this country. So the cast iron comes from Somewhere in the pacific rim. Probably China.
