What happened? You removed Part 10 from youtube? Enquiring minds wanted to know. I imagine it will be back up soon.

Yeah, you can make these as long as the metal used is similar in shear strength to the original. One of the main reasons these exist is to act as "mechanical fuses" when something goes wrong. Usually, anyway.

hi I saw you on a Honda Helix message board on Google and was wondering if I could talk to you about mine? I have a 1994 Honda Helix and garage kept mint condition and only had 5900 Miles when I bought it. it has the original Honda Kenwood line radio on it and I'm thinking about putting something else on it and was wondering your opinion. I only paid $700 for it. oh and also came with a older CB on it. if there's a way I'd send pictures?

That Kenwood radio, working or not, is worth a ton of money by itself. If it were mine, I'd leave it the hell alone and enjoy having such a rare option! I would've donated a fucking kidney to have one of those on my Helix when I had it!

Ok thanks for the information and opinion. I appreciate it. like I said before I only paid $700 for the whole bike, so at this point I'm starting to realize I got a really good deal. I really didn't think so at first but since the last week or more I've been reading up on this bike and the options that are on it and I'm really glad I bought it at this point.

With the Honda Helix, there is NO equal. These bikes aren't worth a ton of money: you buy and restore a Helix to ride and enjoy it. You'll lose every cent you invest if you ever resell it. If you do your job right, and take pride in ownership, that bike will NEVER let you down. I put mine through hell, and it never. Ever. quit. I've ridden mine thousand of miles on the highway at wide-open throttle, pushing speeds in excess of 82 miles per hour and it never once showed any signs of quitting. I lost my oil plug at 75MPH on the highway once, causing the engine to lose ALL its oil, and it gradually slowed down until it seized (I was able to pull off the highway when I noticed the issue). I simply cooled it down, replaced the drain plug, and refilled it with oil; she fired right back up and kept on going with no issues. I personally know people who have upwards of 150,000 miles on these bikes with nothing but maintenance and the occasional repair. The highest mileage I know of is 180,000 miles. So... how to you get this bike to run forever and smoothly? DO. NOT. BUY. PARTS. ON. EBAY. OR. AMAZON. AM. I F******. CLEAR? (sorry... force of habit!) ALL parts, regardless of what it is, must be purchased from Honda. No exceptions. The parts you buy from Honda will work. This includes carburetor parts. If you have the original Kei-Hin carburetor, only replace what is necessary... but BUY THE PARTS FROM HONDA!!!!! A proper carb rebuild will set you back $400 or so, and that's replacing all seals, the air cutoff valve (you need to replace the whole valve @ $100 or so), the diaphragm (ONLY IF TORN!), the float and needle valve, the idle mixture needle valve, and a few other bits. Once the carb is running right, leave it the hell alone. Don't waste money on performance crap; totally not worth the hassle, and most of that stuff is straight from CHINA. You've bought a machine that will serve you well into old age. Treat her like the queen she is.

To continue my speech: I've ridden Kawasakis, Harleys, other Hondas, mopeds... the Helix is special; it offers a ride that no other bike seems to have. It's long, low, stable, and f***ing fast when running right. She'll gradually accelerate to nearly 80 mph on flat land if you let her, and it's amazing how smooth she'll go. The riding position is just so incredibly unique for a scooter. A few more tips: Synthetic 10w40, no need for special motorcycle oil. Change every 1,000 miles. Change gearbox oil w/ sae 75w90 hypoid oil. Change belt (HONDA DEALER PART!!!). Change coolant w/ HONDA MOTORCYCLE COOLANT. Tires? motorcyclesuperstore.com sells the set of Bridgestones for around $100 or so. Good luck!!

thank you so much for all the info. like I said I only paid $700 for it and I believe I got what I paid for its garage kept mint condition and before the people that were in their 70s put it in the garage they had it tuned up and brand new tires and everything on it done. so I'm very grateful.
