Hello, enjoyed your videos. I have a similar record player to this. Motorola model 8H27W-1, looks like was made 8/22/1959. My problem is with the volume control, when you turn the knob sound is low or not coming out of front speakers. It was but then would fade in and out and then if wiggle knob it would get lounder. Now even wiggling does not do anything. I took bottom cover off of player off so can see inside, I can see where volume knob is coming through to make connection, but don't know much more of what to look for or do, any ideas? I don't see anywhere here to add a photo that would help.
I drove my wife's adv160 didn't find it squirrelly at 60 to 70 mph seems find watch scooter cannonball they drive 3400 to 3800 miles across country the adv does very well.
Ironically, I saw a JB Weld ad on this video. But if Honda's coolant is like VW's pink G12 coolant, then anything that leaks out will dry to a hard crust which helps to seal off a minor leak. So try leaving the seepage alone rather than wiping it off.
No, you NEVER want to allow the weep hole to get plugged up. This hole is designed to be the first sign of failure when a pump seal begins to fail - allowing fluid to build up inside the housing can eventually force coolant into the crankcase
Ok, I feel oblicated to share something. I'm a long time viewer and I didn't really leave much comments (changed name). I was still an atheist only 2 years ago, so I know you don't wanna hear this... 28:42 25:33 28:19 32:23 35:52 This is God knocking on your door. Whether you like it or not. As was your scooter accident. (God is not to be mocked, Galatians 6:7) In your previous videos/livestreams you have talked about how people act like crap nowadays, and I agree (2 Timothy 3:1-4, Romans 1:29-31). All these problems you're having with the new things you buy is God trying to make you understand that this world is going downhill fast and these objects are not gonna make you happy (1 John 2:15-17). You've talked about how everything is going to crap nowadays and it's true. People and big companies trying to control everything + greed and other things are driving this. And all these problems you're having with the old things you're trying to preserve is God trying to make you understand that everything in this world decays away (Matthew 6:19) and worldly possessions don't matter in the end. I was (somewhat still am) into 90's cars and retro + modern computing also. 36:24 Seat belts aren't going to keep you safe where the world is going, Jesus is. (John 11:25-26) Humble yourself, ask God to show Himself to you and start reading the Bible while it's still easy (John is a good starting point). If you go to a church, pick a church that actually reads and believes the bible, because there are a lot of false churches.
Very interesting take on this! My Dad and I were discussing this very thing when he started having trouble with parts he ordered for the 1964 Triumph he’s building.
COOL RADIO & I LIKE THE MUSIC YOU ARE PLAYING I TYPE IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE OF MY BAD EYESIGHT NOT YELLING & INUST SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR CHANNEL & HIT THE BELL 🛎️
OK. A little bit larger by about 100cc. That would be better overall if the weight increase wasn’t too much as to upset a good power to wt ratio. Really looking forward to more info on the Adv160 going forward into future. Hopefully you’ll keep this scooter as NO ONE else online are reporting on it. My interest is basic transport on 35 - 55 mph local roads & fun mild easy off road exploring. All the best !!!
The ADV is truly a great machine in terms of ride quality compared to older models; the engine is quite torquey for its size, and the fuel injection should eliminate most of the problems associated with older bikes - the water pump is a weak spot. I’m taking mine in for another pump replacement tomorrow.
I'm very torn. I don't print often, but need to once in a while. I had an ink jet, always dried up. Threw it away and decided I would just print at Walgreens. The last few times I tried that, their printer was out of service. So, I'm tying to convince myself to buy a laser printer. The MF654CDW is on sale at BestBuy for $299 right now. Can't decide...
@@bbishoppcm fun news, I found a 3 month old used one, with full unopened new toner set, for $200! Still a little nervous buying used, but feels like a good deal.
Like most modern stuff, it's a bit soulless. They have to deal with expectations of low fuel consumption and very tight emissions standards. The old engines had more play in them by design. The old Africa Twins where V-twin 650 and 750, the new ones 1000 and 1100 are parallel twins. As you, I want to find saved in a dry garage 650 Africa Twin on low kilometers. The bad thing is that we are not the only ones. There are bunch of people with money aside just for finds like this and find like that are flaying fast. The one thing I don't like in the Helix and the Elite series is the rear brake foot pedal. I'm too use to modern configuration with left lever for rear brake.
My brother just both X-max 400 .. Don't know if the name of the model Xmax and X-max are just different in the ' - ' sign, or just different branding, don't know.
If I understand you correctly, the 160 is a much smaller motor than your old Helix which I believe was a 350cc motor. Maybe check out the Yamaha Xmax scooter which I think has a 400cc motor. It doesn’t have the larger suspension travel and the higher ground clearance of the Adv 160 but it has much more powerful road performance like your old Helix. You might “love” that size scooter. Still hope to see more info- data on the Adv160 in future postings. Great info so far !
Got my adv 160 brand new in March and I’m about to hit 5,000 miles with no problems. Sorry to hear your experience is not the same. Any chance you will sell me your service manual if you get rid of your adv? At the moment, Helminc are not selling service manual for 2024 adv 160.
Dude, I know exactly what you mean when you talk about people not being attentive. I miss riding, it was a lot of fun, but I just had too many close calls. My buddy gave me that XR650 I rebuilt the engine on; in the month or so that I had it running and was riding it, I must have gotten hit 3 different times.
I stopped commuting on my moto in the early 2000's even then too many people on their phones (then flip phones and even installed "car phones") but a few too many close calls. I miss riding and would from time to time after that (on the weekends and in the evenings before people left after dinner (and drinks) - just not worth the risks.
I tend to disagree - so far, the only issue I’ve had was with the water pump, and some minor seepage appears to be normal, and should subside. The rest of the engine seems to be decent, on-par with the industry as a whole.
Booti... Yes I'm guilty of laughing like an immature jr high student in sex ed class Edit Didn't know fax machines use thermal paper. I thought they used tunner carriages
I really enjoyed the rant part of this video. I’ve been watching you since you pretty much started. I use Plex to host my media, my 2012 retina mbp is on Monterey using opencore patcher, I used a BlackBerry Classic for years until they stupidly killed 3G without issue, I use a plasma tv from 2012, Sony receiver from 95, and I use a optical audio to analog converter, and so on. Like you’ve said, I prefer older tech both hardware and software. Stuff just works.
Since you brought up the camera thing. You could get a decent action camera. They have aftermarket or non go pro cameras. Which are great. AKASO makes one with an adjustable lens. It might be worth looking into and being able to use the same camera on your rides, cruise trips, and so on. I have the EK7000 which is their entry 4K camera. It comes with accessories and one you can screw into a tripod I believe. They all do.
Bang and Olufsen has service and they tell you how to replace the battery in speakers and headphones. But yes alot of stuff is junk. Now people are ok with adds on it to and tvs with adds can't forget that.
I have an antique Gilbert fan its 17 inch's and it makes alot of noise the brushings are worn out badly that is from possibly around 1931 but it does move up and down which that is not good
Changing the grease in the transmission is easy. Just remove the cover and scrape out the old grease. Then just repack the entire housing with clean grease fully. Then just replace the cover, mine didn't have a gasket or anything. Took about 15 minutes. Now is shifts as smoothe as silk.
Real world top speed of these in the Philippines stock is about 74 mph. I know they take off the auto engine stop/start on USA models, there might be other things. They are $3,000 down there.
Thanks for this review. This was great information and I'm trying to be more informed and smarter about my car-buying decisions after being burned a couple of times.
Oh and another thing. I think engineering wise the Honda Cub (really the '80s passport models, not the new things they're calling Cubs today) I believe those old carbureted cubs are the most beautifully engineered machines in the world. The way they have mechanical brakes to work anywhere and rarely fail. how easily adjustable the rear wheel is the fact that you can take off the rear wheel without removing the chain, it is a marvel of engineering. And it's beauty lies and it's simplicity and practicality.
I disagree with you on a point. I think the helix is the most beautiful looking scooter in the world. Everything else to me looks like a transformer. I did not want my helix but my friend kind of goaded me into buying it. now you will pry it from my cold dead hands before I give it up. As much as I miss all your helix videos, I am very glad you're back on a scooter!
Maybe one day you can buy a cheaper helix. Make a video series on repairing/restoring it and make it exactly how you want it. I loved watching the helix videos when you had it. (After finishing the video I’d see that you are not interested in this lol)
I thought I'd come back and watch this again I just brought myself a white one of these about a month ago same 2.4 engine it's been good so far mine has 116000 I got it from a car max
Best of luck! Just be aware the engines can spontaneously fail catastrophically at any time without warning, regardless of adherence to maintenance schedules. This is an older video of mine… got rid of mine at 60,000 miles amidst a barrage of recalls, lawsuits, and engine fire reports.
The mall actually closed the interior to the public at the end of April 2022. I know because I walked the mall when the weather was bad outside until my coworkers gave me the bad news (no, I am not a senior citizen yet lol). Also , those vending machines were not stores. They were actually just vending machines since the 1990's. I worked for a photo booth company for 14 years and it was so interesting to see the downfall of malls across the country. It is going to be demolished soon. It is sad.
