I finally get around to pulling the BOP 350 out of the Cutlass and it was NOT a smooth operation. BUT ITS DONE! Made room for the future TH400 that I will be slamming in there with a 350! Stage 1 is well underway and I am very excited.

Nice video I'm at the exact same spot on my 81 Cutlass I'm also installing a 400 you might want to check your yolk the 400 is bigger 1350 please send me more videos of where you're at

Maybe you can help were is the torque converter solenoid located bro....is it inside some were ? ,i just need to disconnect it ,im trying something to see if it works with out it ...issues with first gear.....

I would assume it would be on the transmission above were the shifter connects but I have no clue

you are gonna have fun putting the 400 in, crossmember has to be changed, you have to run a tps sensor on the carb or get one that goes on the throttle pedal, driveshaft is shorter,and as david said way heavier and soaks up some of your power you are putting down, my TCI stage 2 TH350 is rated to upwards of 750+ hp which i will never get there lol. nice video i like the learn as you go videos as it shows more of how us guys do it that dont own a million dollar shop :)

Why not build the TH350 to handle the power? It’s lighter weight and takes less power to drive. Perfect for a mild build

The cutlass th350 is pretty different from the regular chevy th350 from what I understand. It works with the v6 but not with the new 350

I would rather have it all set up for the th400 because i dont necessarily want it to be mild for that long. If I dont like it i will switch it back.

It is specifically a B.O.P. th350 which is weaker

@@markschaff9503 the BOP th350's that I've taken apart in the past have always had more clutches in the low reverse clutch pack than the Chevy's.

Well I was wondering if a th400 actually fits cutlass without cutting the driveshaft and what yoke you use (part number) plus what vacuum line? (Part no#)? Plus what engine are you attaching? Do you even need a th400?

@@starvin53 oh HELL YEAH haha I want to put at least 20s on this when it's actually worthy of it. I guess I would need the th400 but I want to experience the different stages of transmission builds and I have never had a th400 besides the one in my big block gmc.

Maybe it is not the same gearing as the factory transmission that was replaced? Also there are ways to tune a transmission to shift harder which might in some cases make it feel like it is making more power.

Thanks I'll look into it I almost just bought another transmission I'll see if I can fix this first before I decide buy another one.

@@baldo5097 I would say probably but there were quite a few changes made between 80 and 81. There should be a number on the transmission just like on an engine block that can tell you if it is the same or not. I would imagine it would be compatible but I cannot say for sure
