@@robertdelacy3434 Say what you want? But Shergar is better than Galileo, the opposition here was no worse than many Irish Derbies and the actually St Leger winners is second here.
@@robertdelacy3434 I never said you did, I'm just pointing out a fact that Shergar was superior to Galileo and probably the majority of Derby winner, but you want to point out he didn't beat very much here, well never did many other Irish Derby winner, but he's certainly beat not very much in great style.
I very much doubt we will ever see a Derby winner who was so superior to the rest of his generation, sadly there's a few who like to call Shergar and his opposition because he was defeated in the St Leger, but there was certainly something not right that day, especially as the actual winner was Cutabove who was a totally out classed second on this occasion.
@Shaun Spadah A comfortable is more of a better description, but it was very comfortable, the second went on to win the St Leger when Shergar ran some way below his best.
Worse opposition ?- Cut Above won the Leger ,Kirtling ran a close second in what is now the International and Ore became a very good stayer ,Gap of Dunloe was third in the Prix du Jockey Club
Lester should have rode him in every race as he was the greatest jockey that has ever lived. This was part of why,He could have won by a mile but Lester eased up with lenghts to go.
@Mark Smith Although Piggott rode Shergar on his two, two year old races Swinburne did nothing wrong on him, I doubt Piggott would have made any difference in the St Leger, the horse was clearly not himself that day.
@@nightowl7459 You obviouly know nothing about lester .The man was an absolute genius who won with horses who had zero chance of winning according to the stats .I would say between 10 and 20% of his winners came with no hopers. As for swinburne he was not fit to tie lesters boots and the same can be said about all other jockeys,
@@marksmith7425 Obviously you know very little about very little, they can all win on outsiders or long shots, Piggott was without doubt one of the best, but he quite often rode the best, Swinburne was also a very good jockey.
