@@jayuk686: A big fan of Royal Academy friend ? The performance that the GOAT put on in the 86 Arc was BREATHTAKING of course & going on performance only you have Rainbow Quest at Goodwood & what about Pebbles in the Champion Stakes beating non other than Slip Anchor. Also for a 2yr olds first try on dirt, French Superstar (Breeders Cup Juvenile) 1991 Arazi, best 2yr old performance I saw making up 12 L & won by 6L in last half mile with jockey pulling him up half furlong out.
Hey friend there's a big debate about Starkey losing the ride on the Champ Dancing Brave in the King George due to an injury they say ( Utter Nonsense) BUT when back fit why wasn't he riding the Champ in the Arc ?? He rode Shardari in the Arc.
Frankel but different horses different distances last to first Dancing brave with his turn of foot never forget them Frankel did run the horses in to the Ground he could make all or come from the back great great horses ❤

I watched this race at least-100 times and it never ever fails to give me goosebumps in the last 2f …. There’s a reason it’s voted thr best horse race of all time
@@moyajanko6642:😂😅 I got passed that number in the 1st 5-6yrs after the Arc. Its just unbelievable the speed he finds & I'm absolutely 100% sure Gary Moore on Bering on the outside must've thought he had it won & did until the Furlong pole then realised he was on to a really bad hiding. Guy Harwood gave a brief interview about 3 hours before the race & said he had Dancing Brave as ready as he could get him & said " He'll win if he's within 2 lengths of the leaders at the 2 furlong pole" but the bookmakers must've missed that brief interview because giving that price I was STUNNED. I thought he'd be closer to Evens maybe 5/4 but because Bering smashed the track record in his previous race the bookies grew balls 😂 BUT the sacks emptied really quickly, the cash sacks.
The masterful Pat Eddery at his brilliant best. One of the best tactical rides ever in a top class race. Kept Dancing Brave out the back, out of trouble and then delivered him to perfection.
But Oaksey commentating said he's to far back but expects Pat to move up gradually but he's tracking Bering so he's still hopeful 😂 Oaksey has been in racing for about 200 YEARS but Pat knew exactly how to ride the race, wide & late using The Braves jaw dropping speed to leave them behind.
@@grav20 : The Wizard Pat Eddery knew how to ride a horse, they all say Pigott was the greatest jockey & why ? Was it because he won so many Derby's or so many classics & G1's ? Pat Eddery came into horseracing way after Pigott who won so many Derby's, Classics & G1's because he was riding all the best horses I.e For Vincent O'brien, Owners Sangster & Magnier. Pat Eddery won 4 Arc's in a row 85 Rainbow Quest, 86 Dancing Brave, 87 Trempelino, 88 Tony Bin 👏👏 Remarkable. R.I.P CHAMP 🙏
This was the best arc there has ever been and ever will be..English and French Derby winners group 1 winners everywhere..Dancing brave for me was the best mile and halfer there has been.
@michaeldowd5545 There was also a German horse that s cauthen rode called acatenango that had one all 19 races in Germany I know that don't amount to much but at the the time the jockey thought he had a good chance.depth of that race will never be seen again
Never get bored watching this. Eddery's a genius. I hate it when the frame changes when the brave overtakes Bering! The brave wins going away! What a freak! 'Eddery's asking for everything" And Dancing Brave delivers!
Not sure why someone thought Eddery rode dancing brave in derby .I remember backing sharistani 6/1 I think but lucky greville had a stinker.i could have ridden the beast to victory
even the horses he beat were legends... its so exciting to hear the emotion that this horse evoked, and so sad that these days it hardly ever happens anymore....p.s... great commentators too...
@@StephenSmall-sf5um He was the best horse I've seen. Frankel was finally rated 2lb better than Dancing Brave by Timeform but didn't win over 1m 4f. For me DB was better. Possibly the likes of Sea Bird, Brigadier Gerard and Sea the Stars are on the same level but even if you don't think DB was the best he was very close to it.
@@StephenSmall-sf5um Only your opinion Stephen! Thousands upon thousands of people disagree. But we are all wrong, and you are right. Learn to concede graciously. You are the same on every post about DB. Go have a lie down and let us worship the brave in our own way! 61 yrs old here, and he is the greatest horse I have ever seen. By a mile Mr Small.......
My all time favourite horse on the flat Greville slept in the Derby, and paid the price but I forgive him he had a bad day, and rode him brilliantly in previous races.
The greatest horse ever no matter what the pundits say the 1986 arc in my opinion the greatest race ever he beat the srongest arc ever look at the horses behind him deby winners past arc winner eddrey had trouble puling hom up i think he would have still one if he was carrying 7lbs extra ehst would of happened to his rattings as for starkey should not had listened to the trainer that day i forgive g starkey
Still cant believe jow he won the arc in that manner.. hardly any win from were he was positionthat blistering turn of speed over the distance ive never seen before
@@IanOttaway-e5k : Actually friend if you look at the 1987 & 1988 Arc's you'll notice Pat Eddery did the same thing on Trempelino & Tony Bin BUT the only difference is the Great DANCING BRAVE did it in a field consisting of 18 G1's and 4 Derby winners. He is my GOAT & just sad he didn't bag the Derby he should've won easily of course. R.I.P CHAMP 🙏
Dancing Brave was a mile horse. to start Grenville Starkey rode the perfect race and to what he was told to do Greville Starkey never got over being blamed for the defeat in the Derby

Whenever a jockey decides to ride a horse so far back in the field, he increases the chances of various things happening which might prevent his horse winning. Top jockeys have come a cropper in big races when they were held up at critical points - it happened to the best of them, including Piggott on Nijinsky and Park Top, both in the Arc.
I was 21 and loved The Brave. I knew he was a great horse and was the best I've seen apart from Frankel although he never ran over 1 mile 4. I saw in the local paper the coach company was doing a trip to the arc. I was going to book but didn't get anyone to ho with me so i didn't bother. My biggest regret. Although i did eventually go to see Authorised run. Sadly he didn't win.
You're a star for posting this. I had it on VHS for years til my flat got robbed..cleaned out! I had some great races on tape. Warning's comeback race after he got sick, Mtoto lots of his.
i first watched this 6 months ago im in nz, first of all what a race ive never seen a finish spread out like that,as for dancing brave he was flying, hes up there with frankel winx and black cavier etc.hes a champion.
I was there to witness something astonishing, the finishing speed from Dancing brave was never in any doubt of victory once Pat moved to the outside, I won a whopper that very special day, he should have won the derby easily but the late G. Starkey misjudged the race,
That is actually a common misconception as he rode DB twice more . Greville rode DB to victory in his next race the Coral Eclipse but then got injured and Pat took over for the King George. Greville then rode DB again in the select stakes at Goodwood before Pat took the ride in the Arc and the Breeders Cup. Khalid Abdullah wanted Pat for the Arc and it was his decision and Guy Harwood stood up for Greville after the Derby defeat. He continued to be the stable NO 1 jockey for Harwood and rode all the other horses in the yard with Tony Clark as the No 2
What an animal!! Probably the strongest ever field assembled for The Arc & DB galloped past the lot of them. What always annoys me when DB pops up on RU-vid or the like is when a load of people that know nothing about racehorses insist that if Eddery was on him in The Derby he wins! Horses are not machines with gears & an accelerator, at Epsom especially horses no matter how good can find themselves shuffled back or pushed outside or just not in the ideal spot & connections of DB at the time were not absolutely certain of him getting the 1m4 well & it's very harsh of people berating a jockey of Sharkey's class as it's easier to point fingers in the aftermath, in the combination between horse & jockey always remember 98% of it is the horse so the influence the jockey imparts on the partnership is very small! After seeing how well DB stayed on at Epsom connection's then knew he'd stay every yard & thus he was ridden with expectation in future races rather than hope.
Some extremely good horses this particular year Triptych sharastani shardari Dancing brave the unluckiest horse not to win the Derby poor Grenville starkey never forget it
Sad day for racing when the lowered Dancing Braves best ever international rating of 141 to 138, just so Frankel could be top, fact is even at 138 he was higher rated than Frankel as a 3 year old 136, Dancing brave never raced as a 4 year old. When you think he was a very late fole he was amazing. Wonder what they will do now Flightline is rated 140...😅 all great horses.
Frankel Not as a 3 yo. Frankel probably as a 4yo. But the fact is the top 7 or 8 in this are all better than any horse that Frankle raced against.Think about it.
Dancing Brave has always been Timeform 140, always will be. Frankel was 143 as a 3 year old and 147 as a 4 year old. Dancing Brave might have been capable of better had he raced as a 4 year old, so would plenty of others - but fact is they didn't run at 4. Dancing Brave disappointed final start at 3, so had he raced on may well of run to less than he did at 3. And any horse could be capable of better form than it's actually shown, it's just not in the form book so cannot be rated that way. Dancing Brave beat better horses but not by as far as Frankel.
@@spleeeen4it Haha don't be a tit, Dancing Brave Blitzed Champion Sprinter Green Desert over mile , Frankel never had anywhere near the quality of competition DB had
There are certain horses who don't quicken at Epsom as other cources. Eg.el gran senor. Stark did nothing wrong at Epsom. Didn't let himself down at Epsom.
I'm still wondering what happened to DB in that Breeders Cup Turf roughly one month later which, I heard, made him mocked and his legacy overlooked by some Americans? Should he simply had never gone there?
What a disgrace lowering Dancing Braves rating from 141 to 138 just so Frankel can be top rated Dancing Braves would destroy Frankel over 1 and a half mile Dancing Braves. The greatest 6:21
