Seahawks were a fun team to watch. They could beat any team on any given day. I remember watching this game with my Dad and our neighbor. Good time.

I remember watching this game. Being ‘Hawks fan at the time I was ecstatic that we beat Chargers for first time but didn’t realize we scored 44 points on them.

Seahawks finally broke the San Diego charger curse. Up to that point, the chargers, defensive line usually got a lot of pressure on Zorn and Dan Fouts had all day to throw the football with picked the defense apart. Did help a lot that the Chargers had four turnovers.

Eugene Klein wasn't willing to pay defensive coordinator, Jackie Simpson, what he was worth, so Simpson went to the Seahawks following the 1980 season. This was the end result. Nice going, Gene.

Klein fired Simpson after the AFC Championship game, without consulting Don Coryell. Jack Pardee was brought in to replace him and after getting kneecapped by Klein (trading away your best defensive player and making no effort to get a replacement) and being offered more money by an oil company in Texas, Pardee left. Gene Klein and Alex Spanos are textbook examples of how NOT to run a football team.

1:42:00 - That was the play that turned the momentum of the game entirely in Seattle's favor.

Cosell says some crazy stuff. Then Frank and Don keep him in check. The whole things is pretty entertaining.

James Brooks was a weapon. Good player 👏

But his tendency to fumble in key situations cost him his job at San Diego. The Bengals were all too happy to welcome him after being traded.

Still grinds my gears to have to listen to Howard Cosell. The thing to do was to turn off the TV sound and listen to the radio. Does anybody else remember "Howie Powie"? You could win a chance to smash a TV set while Cosell was talking.

Oh, the only people who had VCRs or Beta vcr s back then were mainly people from Navy or Military, other then the upper class. VCRs were not on market until mid 80s. Only Japan were selling them so these recordings rare unless from tv stations and NFL.

I know that some game exist from the early 70's in full length. How did people record it before VCR or Beta vcr?

@@beaubbyvagnert7035 Likely set up their 8MM Home camera in front of tv or, they had good enough radioshack tech that could record off 8mm to vcr . The expensive hand cams back then had features to plug in other hardware back the. Also, most NAVY ppl had all these devices due to them being in Japan. Japan was ahead back then , too.lol..

Players didnt make millions back then as Chuck Munchie was living in a Condo in a lower class neighborhood of ESD and North Park. I know because I lived down the street from him and we all knew Munchie was a weed smoker as I knew a friend who would do runs for Munchie. We asked him how much did he get paid in NFL. He told us 56,000 a year with incentives.

Jack Pardee for defence! The guy that was ahead as Houston coach 35-3 early 3rd quarter against Buffalo wild card playoff 1992 playoffs. Lost 41-38 overtime. San Diego. The No Man defence.

The Seattle Seahawks where allways so close back then just couldn't win enough to get in the playoffs the charger s where good to get to the super bowl but choke when it counted go Seattle Seahawks
@kendavis7467
@kendavis7467 3 года назад
Part of their problem was due to multiple starting players being on drugs. As well as, having poor defenses.

The San Diego Chokers. 1979-82. Seattle would finally win a Superbowl in the NFC. They handed the overrated Patriots another Superbowl. With those hideous uniforms. San Diego does not even have a football team.
