1982 BEDFORD TK570 DROPSIDE LORRY REVIEW 

These were SO common. Then they just disappeared

I remember that lorry it belonged to a coal merchant called G,T Lyke of Mortimer Street Trowbridge

Nice little truck. Back in 1987 I drove the TL750 turbo ,which had drop boards and tail lift for a company in Hounslow , called Collins and Stevenson Contracts. All our rigids were Bedford's except one and the attics were all ERF 6 leggers .

Passed my HGV in 1988 in a Bedford TK,this takes me back👍

The engine is 214 Cu inch or 3.5 litre. I have a 1985 one.😀

Remember my late Dad driving tks with the TA unit, he use to bring home.

I had 2 but a lot older than this one and flatbeds too.

Bedford and Leyland were the backbone of thr British trucking fleets. The TK was used for everything from coal lorry to3 ambulances. Many people did their class 3 licenses on these...This ought to be in a working vehicles museum. lobely little wagon. Give it lots of YLC! happy days!

Drove TK's for years as a house coal delivery/coal merchant, always perfect height for carrying the bag of coal onto your back,we even had converted TK brewery lorries, Fords, leylands etc. Couldn't do what a Bedford tk could do running overloaded most times, maybe 2 and a half ton overweight, Haha no problem to a TK. I have 5 or 6 photos of the lorries I also painted and did the sign writing on, but I can't post them on here , 18 years as a coalman, HAPPY DAYS Haha.

That's very tidy for a truck that was made when I was 13! I'm 52 now.

I Drove A Nine Ton Bedford Out Of Sydney On Schweppes Long Range Runs From Age 14, Working For A Couple Of Yorkshiremen; Two Of The Funniest Blokes I've Ever Known!! We Were Pissed All The Time, But No-One Cared Because We Never Ran Into Anything!! We Weren't Actually Drunk; We Needed The Beer To Keep Energy Levels Up, Just As Many English Miners Were Paid In Ale, A Long Time Ago. Nothing Like The Bloody Nanny-State We've Got Now!! When You're Handling Up To 15 Ton 3 Times In A Day, Only Good Beer Will Give You That Quick Energy!! Great Days Though!!!
