Bedford lorries were popular here in the UK. A lot of them were either scrapped or sent to places like Pakistan where they do some incredible stuff with them back in the 1980's.
We started a TK yesterday for the 1st time in about 15 years, it's been dry stored for almost 20 years, 2 new batteries and away it went, only problem was the water pump had siezed and the belts slipping on the pulley burned, hopefully its not too much trouble to fit another.
Thousands still on the road here in Australia. Many clubs for Bedfords as well. TJ Series very sought after for ratrodding and general restoration. Doing a genuine TJ6 myself back to ridgy didge
Bedford is a popular & very tough truck.it is largely used here in Bangladesh but nowadays Indian & Chinese cheap trucks are flooding the market. thanks
In the 60s in australia bedfords were used a as dunny trucks for out houses and rubbish trucks i worked on a few for overseas people dunny is a toilet in australia lol
every thing seems to be ok apart from the cab. the cab is to rusty. my goal would be to put a flat deck on it and a old hiab behind the cab. ill make more videos on it soon.
They all smoked ! I drove these in the 1980's, they were a hard pig to drive, no power steering, and strange pedals which came out of the floor. For air conditioning, you opened a vent flap near your left foot, and turned the side window to your face while driving !
I have heard that some of the bedfords were powered by British leyland six cylinder diesel engine is it true? Because I am very much fond of the sound of British leyland six cylinder diesel engine of normal aspiration.
sorry Ghalib i dont know a whole lot about them. i have been trying to learn as i go. it has Bedford written on the rocker cover is the only markings i can find.
it dose not have a turbo. i have been trying to do some research but haven't gotten very much info yet. ill do another video soon. most info i have gotten is from wiki
Tk had 300-330 non turbo unless some body fitted one the Bedford tl were fitted with 330 turbo and that finished them of useless engine. Leyland 400 were fitted good engine I once fitted a Perkins 6354 in a tk that could pull a house down
No way first start in 15 years…. Some of us spent years in those lorries… and there it is all these pumped up in pride of place… I did 20 years in lorries like that… the TK gave you curvature of the spine.. fuckin horrible things to drive 12 hrs a say
