1982 Honda Sliver wing GL500

I've had about a dozen Silverwings over the years. The last one I sold was a GL650I with 106,000 miles on the clock. IMHO it's the best bike Honda ever made. I'd still be riding it but for the parts scarcity. I do a lot of long road trips and the last thing I need is to have a unique part fail in No Hope ND. It would cost more than the bike is worth to retrieve it. I've switched to the closest thing I could find to the Silverwing. Moto Guzzi. Transverse V twin, shaft drive, 5 speed transmission, and detachable bags. One word of advise. If you get it up to 35,000 - 40,000 miles, I'd look very seriously at a new cam chain. They're not available from Honda, but you can get them aftermarket.

When I was a Police Officer back in 83 I rode a three wheeler with same engine for 4 years. Except for tires and brakes that trike ran great! I even tried to buy the trike when it was retired! Over 120,000 miles! Great idea with Flex seal great content keep up the great videos

I recently just did a lot of work on my 1982 Honda GL500 Silverwing, and the last repair was the intake boots. I found some wraps that slide over the cracked rubber ends and used a heatgun on, wrapped it up tight and created a better seal on the carbs. would hardly get out of its way before and now clears 75 without a sweat !!. also ive found that the vibration it gets as you accelerate is due to the air box and filter, Ive installed airpods on mine and it only vibrates now when on throttle and thats all

Flex seal for the win

I have an opportunity to buy an 86 Silver Wing (no title) and an 81 CX500 running with a title. Is it possible to build a silver wing out of the 81 CX by swapping the tank and seat and mounting the faring, saddlebags and trunk from the 86?

I have the very same bike , love it , having trouble finding carb rebuild parts, anyone know where I find them ?

So quick question. I have the same bike and my sprung a coolant leak today but it sprayed all over my knees which makes it further up. I’m just learning bikes and have already done a lot to it. So my question is what is the other spots that it would be possible to leak from?
