I have the same bike. I put a 3/4 fairing and a rear rack with bags, and driving 'fog' lights. I had safety bars that I took off after an accident. I put on near 30k before stopping riding in 90s. I'm trying to revive it now. Needs tires and a few parts. The best thing I ever did was put in ss lines for brakes with dot5 fluid. Also, a fork stiffener because I used some lousy roads. The tank is shot and I'm looking for a replacement. 6 months later, edit; finally got a tank and some misc parts. Just some details to work out.
I used to borrow a bike like that from the guy who was the best man at my wedding and take my then fiance, now wife of 39 + years to Medina lake here in Texas. I think it was a 1980 or 1981. I've never personally owned a bike.
I dismantled my 650g and the shaft seems to have a lot of side-to-side play on reassembly. Does yours? As far as I can tell, everything was re-assembled correctly.
I have the exact same bike. Solenoid has only two fat lugs. How to test for the click? Also, while I am at it, how to test the red starter button? I am a fair mechanic and a good electrician, with meters.
