All the knowledge you share in your videos and website is absolutely invaluable to us Airhead enthusiasts. This project is - predictably - coming along very nicely. Hip hip hooray!

Hey brook, love your content your a great help. When I set the stainless push rods to the correct tolerance they are sitting proud out of the cylinder head face, is this an issue or will they seat inside the cylinder head? Thank you

The push rod tubes should be recessed inside the hole in the cylinder, not proud. The R65 motor uses shorter tubes than the other motors since the connecting rods are shorter. I don't know why you are ending up with proud push rod tubes.

Thanks for the response, and i thought as much. i am aware of the shorter tubes, these are the correct ones for my R80. Its strange because 1 tube on each cylinder is sitting prouder than the other, and its on the same side for both. Do you happen to know the corrct lengh of the push rod tubes so i can messure them? Thanks again! @@BrooksAirheadGarage

No I don’t have the lengths. Be sure you ordered the correct part numbers of the tubes for your year/model

Good morning an thanks for your special tutorial. I need to replace the push rod on R80G/S. The question is...the distance 1.75 mm ("stick thickness") is the same or different? (Sorry for my bad english)
@BrooksAirheadGarage
@BrooksAirheadGarage Год назад
Andrea, it's the same distance for all airhead engine push rod tubes.

@@BrooksAirheadGarage I disassembled the cylinders, but the push rod tubes are positioned in the same plane as the cylinder shoulder and NOT at -1.75mm. Why? I'm sure these cylinders have never been disassembled. Thank you very much

Hello, Brook, excellent video as always!, quick question related to the dimension for the distance between the push rod tube flange and the cylinder flange....is it safe to presume that dimension of 1.75-2.00mm is applicable to a 1974 R90/6 ? I checked both my Haynes and Clymer manuals and couldn't find that dimension called out. I had reinstalled the cylinders during a rebuild and didn't check that dimension beforehand and sure enough the right side aft tube split the seal and I finally figured out that that push rod tube was a bit "proud" (as the Brits would say), so before removing and reinstalling the tube I would like to know if that dimension might be applicable to my /6. Many, many thanks in advance
