Its been the same could've,would've,shouldve shitshow since 1973 after a REAL coach named Joe Schmidt left. Its so bad you can keep count of the good seasons.FOR THE RECORD THE 1970 LIONS WOULD'VE DESTROYED THE 1991 CINDERELLA LIONS.Sorry It had to be said.
Is Billy Sims acknowledged at all as “the other B.S running back” to wear 20 in Detroit? Had he not gotten hurt (at Metrodome I believe-I happen to be a Vikes fan), who knows where he would rank!
With the Lions current resurgence, I get questioned as to since when was I a lions fan. My answer is '81 the days of Eric Hipple and my original #20 Billy Sims... so yes, even before Barry Sanders." They don't question after that. Lol. Btw, just for context, I get questioned because 9ers have been my fave, followed by the lions. But since 9ers lost 2 Superbowls in a row, like a coach, gotta look at my 2nd and give them a chance. I've actually followed the lions closer now, than I ever did the 9ers. Lol.
@@Thebestaustin-d8f Thanks!!... I'm really mixed because I'm really into the Lions right now. It's like having 2 kids finding their paths. The older (9ers) had all the accolades and championships and are in position for more, but now I wanna see the 2nd child (Lions) have its own successes and cheer 'um on more.
No. To have the number one defense in the league, to be division champions, to have heart and character to overcome many injuries and make the playoffs with several come-from-behind wins, to lose only by 1 to the eventual Super Bowl champions in the playoffs... This was not a typical Detroit Lions season.
John Boehmer wrong. Washington won the super bowl that year. Bottom line, Eddie Murray choked worse than any other player in lions history in a big game. Typical lions ending that get your hopes up, only to choke in the end? Remember the bomb from Favre to Sharpe, or the Sam Martin 10 yard shanked punt?
@@carlosdecastrojr3789 Yeah, my mistake on the 49ers going to the Superbowl, but a typical Lions season has us around 6-10, so not typical, the rest of the case stands up. It WAS a nasty choke from a great kicker though...but not the first, not the last.
John Boehmer Eddie Murray was not a great kicker. Matt Prater is. Prater would have drilled that kick without any doubt. I’m not convinced Hanson wouldn’t have choked that kick. Prater definitely would have nailed it though.
@@carlosdecastrojr3789 Prater WAS a great kicker... hopefully he can rebound. Kickers have improved considerably in the 2000s, but Murray would consistently be in the top 5 in the league in points for over a 10 year stretch. He did, after, nail all 3 of his field goals to that point, just blew the one that mattered the most.
