I had the white 83 GT with black interior and was my absolute favorite car. This brings back good memories! LOVE that car! I bet you couldn't touch it for $15K!
This was my car at 17 yrs old. I paid $4600 in 1988. The one I bought was a 1 owner beauty. I restored a 68 mustang prior to this but unfortunately all that time and money never paid off as it wound up having a cracked frame. The 83 healed my wounds. The rims were metric so I remember struggling to buy tires at $150 each in high school. Lol. I had a lot of fun with that car then wound up downshift into red line and blew a head gasket. Live and learn. Also got smoked by a damn Fierro one time. Good times
I had one of these back in the day. I beat the living crap out of it. I put a cam, intake, carb, true dual exhaust, rear end gear and aftermarket shifter on it. After all that, it was competitive with the newer fuelie 5.0 Mustangs ( 1986 and newer ), and the 350 IROC Camaro's. Spun bearings twice. Smoked 3 clutches. And, grenaded both a 5 speed and the 7.5 rear end. Fun car. Unfortunately, it got hit 3 times in 1 month which spelled the end of it. God, I miss that stupid car.
In 1983 I was runnin around with a black w/white stripes1970 Chevelle SS454 LS5 motor, built to shit and get!!, 4.10 gears, 3500 stall with a beefed TH350....MAN!, those were the good ole days, for sure!
I had the same car 83 GT black no T top. Totaled it May 8,1989. It had just a little over 80,000 miles. That was a sad day for me. I was 28 at the time.
My first car was a 1983 GT in black, red interior. 5 speed so it was a later 83. Fun car but kinda slow. TRX wheels are metric 390 mm not 15 or 16 inches. Hard to find tires.
I have an 83 glx 5.0 5 spd ragtop. It is a great summer cruiser. Stock engine besides bbk headers and pipes. Sounds mean. Lady owned...no wonder the torque boxes look like new still 😄
