I was at this game . I was a young kid, now I’m 43 years old . Just goes to show how amazing a season it was for Dickerson. This record still stands to this day !!! This video doesn’t show the part where his teammates carried him off the field and he was throwing his wristbands and headband and other stuff up in the crowd around the tunnel. I remember wanting one of those wristbands but didn’t get one !! 🤣
I was Mr Ram growing up as a kid. My favorite team and favorite player Eric Dickerson. I was a kid from North Dakota and 11 years old at the time. Felt like I ran with him every yard that season. Lol. Every time someone gets close to his record I get very nervous. That's my record. Lol. I don't want it to ever be broken.
Thank you for posting this...such an absolute pleasure witnessing Eric The Great run the football. Back then, you could pencil in ED for at least 30 touches on the ground and at least 100 yds rushing.
I was at this game. It was a different time. The scoreboard flashed the news. Everybody cheered. The game got back underway. No long stoppage for a video highlight reel, no huge ceremony. They just went back to playing football.
Exactly. OJ would have made 2300 in 16 games and maybe more. Also, based on what Payton and Jim Brown did in their 14-game rushing season highs, they also would have more than 2105 yards if they had two extra games to play.
You can say whatever you want about other running backs but Eric Dickerson has the single season rushing record still and more than likely will die with that record I'm ok with that hahaha
Robert Brazile NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year for the 1975 season. Named to the Pro Bowl 7 straight seasons (1976-82) All-Pro five straight seasons (1976-80) Selected to the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 1970s. Never missed a game And yet had to wait 28 years to be elected to the hall of fame

I got to witness one of E.D.'s games in attendance in 1984. It was against the Cleveland Browns. In the game, Eric Carrie's the rams to victory, an Eric Dickerson trade mark during his career with the rams, and that's why is is the greatest running back of all time
I was at this game as well, running around the Anaheim stadium with my sisters 35mm camera to get a picture of Mr. Dickerson's history day, and his historic run. Which I did right from the front wall gratefully on the side when Eric broke O.J.'s running record. I remember a few peeps and my late father say'N that: "he'll never run over 200yds." but the Rams were playing the Oilers defense...and John Robinson - "Student body right" every time via USC....and Eric was obviously wanting to make history in front of the home crowd! Too bad this video (grainy for sure) doesn't show the celebration with the players and crowd that day. And the score board with the 2007....thank you Mr. Dickerson for the wrist band you threw into the crowd of Rams fans.
@@jimhirsch4482 I agree as I’ve been many times to both venues, but LA Coliseum by the late 70s was a drag. Too big, horrible neighborhood. Carrol Rosenbloom the LAR owner wanted the blackouts lifted so the Rams could show all the home games on TV. Wow what a concept. Unfortunately he got killed off by the Mafia, etc.
2 of the greatest individual, record breaking, single seasons in NFL history, in the same year: Marino's passing yards and TD record (which even though the record has been eclipsed by a number of QB's over the years, this still is the greatest QB statistical season ever IMO given how the game was played and what was allowed in 84 vs the pass happy, rule changes era of the past 15-20 years that over protect the QB and Wr's) and of course ED's rushing record (Which may not ever be broken given how sadly devalued the RB position has become in recent years)
NFL Network listed they were going to show this game then did not, wondering why the Full game not posted or did the NFL ban it. Like other things that are available but the NFL and other sports do not want you to see such as the Miracle of Richfield NBA series, the 1976 Divisional playoff between the Raiders and Patriots, the Heidi Game. I have gotten games from 1950 pretty much in their entirety. A lot of the Monday night games from 1970. The games are out there the NFL Refuses to release a lot of them in any way shape or form. Greatest Game DVDs they should have done one on the 78-80 Cleveland browns, All the Great Raider games not just the three Super Bowl Victories. I have the Saints MNF Game, The Holy Roller, Sea of Hands, Ghost to the Post games, Plus it also makes no sense that I can download a file off RU-vid in two parts and when you put it on a HD TV that it won't play one part with sound but plays the other claiming bad Codec. Yet both Videos came from the Same Source.
VHS didn't exist before 1977 and was too expensive till the early 80s so you have fewer games from before 1977. And relatively few games are available from 1977. This game is out there if you know where to find it.
