garrett2jz I saw a BMW 3.0 CSL in person, and it was the original 1970s one. Those things are badass, but I would still love to see a Quattro in person since they are one of my top favorite rally cars.
I had an 84 Quattro GT 5E. My god was that car fun in Germany and I miss it to death. Wish I had it here in the states so people could see the 5 banger make land rocket speed.
Well, Audi changed the game forever ;) While Lancia designed rally specific monsters never meant for the streets (except homologation cars), Audi swore to only use cars that could be used and driven publicly. That's why Audi started losing against mid-engined rally cars. But we can still thank Audi for even making the Lancia Delta S4 a reality :)
Maybe the driver wanted to go easy on the drivetrain, as a launch puts a lot of strain on these components. As you can see throughout the video he is not really pushing the car ;-)
Because AWD cars are actually harder to launch. The extra grip from all four tires means you need a higher RPM to not stall the engine, or atleast fiddle with the clutch a little more :)
Believe it or not you can't just rev it up and dump the clutch, as there's too much traction and the engine makes next to no boost so it'll stall. You need to sort of slip the clutch a little or side step it, even the road cars with quattro were designed for it.
